orienteering race 56:36 [4]

Clean but slow. I had a little confusion near number 2 and then wandered a bit and just sort of lucked in to one of the later controls. The confusion at 2 was kind of strange. It's an easy control and I was headed right to it when I spotted a cliff with a marker on it. Well, that wasn't expected and it startled me enough to stop and stand still to check the map. It turned out the flag was on a little bit of a cliff that was at the edge of the control circle. The circle was broken at the cliff but I hadn't noticed that.
I felt a bit worn out. I think the previous days (especially the heat on Saturday) and a general lack of really good sleep caught up with me. I couldn't keep my h.r. at a normal race effort (avg in the low/mid 160s).
Fun.
After the race we drove to Lexington and had a great dinner prepared by Silas.
