running 10:00 [2]

Jogging around a bit to warm up.

Sprint orienteering at Sar-Ko-Par park in Lenexa. Dean H. set the course. I had a little bobble at one control when I ran right by it and had to stop and turn around. I lost time from the pacing. I had a hard time holding the right pace without going too hard. The heat makes it harder for me to pick the right effort. It was easy to go a little too hard.

I fell at one marker. I came in expecting to be able to punch and move on without really breaking stride. But, my foot lost traction and instead of moving smoothly through the control I went flying/falling and nearly pulled the control stand down.

After the orienteering, we had a picnic and then the annual PTOC meeting.

A highlight was visits from Linda C (Paul's wife) and Grafton. We had a ncie chat about the old days when Peggy was in Lawence. We also had a good chat about these days and how orienteering seems the same as it did back in the 1980s. Grafton is living in Texas and was in town to visit his daughter and grand daughter.

Fun day, but a few degrees cooler would have made it more fun.

MTB cycling 45:00 [1]

MTB on pavement after work. Hot out there.

Both KU and Haskell have graduation this weekend. I kept my eye out for crazy drivers. I spotted a few, but nothing too crazy.

I saw John C. leaving his office. I stopped and chatted a bit.

6 AM

running 20:00 [3]

I woke up before 6 and decided I felt strange, but would go out and jog a bit.

After 10 minutes I turned around and came home. I went back to bed and slept most of the day until about 4 p.m.

I'm updating AP at about 730 p.m. and I feel essentially normal. I've now had 4 Covid vaccines and it seems like I can expect about 24 hours of tiredness after the shot. Maybe it would have been a little less if I hadn't tried to jog. Or maybe not.

I plan to sleep in tomorrow. Assuming I feel close to normal, maybe I'll ride my bike after work.

Note

I haven't studied the entrants, but my favorite Eurovision song at this point is "Eat Your Salad."

Norway's entry looks interesting, too.

Note

Covid booster after work.

running 40:00 [2]

Slow jogging. Felt difficult - legs are tired and every bit of uphill was a chore.

Shuffled through a training course on the KU campus. Still felt like a slog, but navigating was fun.

I did the bike orienteering course Mary did earlier today. She followed the rule of staying on pavement only. I decided to cut across the grass. Fun.
