Orienteering 39:15 [3] 5.9 km (6:39 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X talon blue

Metroleague at Tregear/Whalan. Felt bleh for all of this race. Tricky start in the mountain bike track area then across the open to some horrible thick grass and weeds. Thought the rock at 6 was incorrectly mapped. Ok until 12 where stopped too short and looked for a while. Took routechoice through the green to 13 which was wrong. Managed to run the hill at the end so still had bit in the tank.

Orienteering 50:28 [3] 2.7 km (18:41 / km)

Short line course at Palm beach with Miya. After being car sick on the looong drive to the event Miya lost interest after Control 7. Well.. the beach was more interesting. Some good dumpers in the shore break.. nice swell about

Orienteering (ACT Middle) 46:31 [3] 4.3 km (10:49 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X talon blue

Started poorly not being able to orient the map to the track and thrown out by ‘the box faces your first control’ Instruction. Attempted to make up time to 5 and just ran with no real plans. Ok until creek crossing to 9 where momentarily lost map contact. Went to wrong rocky knoll at 11 and had to walk up all the contours to 13 which I wasn’t expecting to be in an area of surface rock. Found the finish control very tricky. Went way too high.

Orienteering (ACT Sprint Champs) 18:51 [3] 3.0 km (6:17 / km)

Started pretty fast but slowed down to the point of losing time after map flip. Map flow pretty good except 13 which I ran past and nearly punched 9 again and took a couple of steps past 20 as 19 was only about 20m away.

Orienteering (Goanna) 1:01:09 [3] 6.5 km (9:24 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X talon blue

Mass start had me confused with zipster leading everyone around the soccer fields instead of across the open expanse of yellow, then found myself at the head of a group to 3 where for some inexplicable reason started heading to 6 thinking I could skip 2 controls. Realised that I couldn’t do them in consecutive order so backtracked to 3 and skipped 5. Ok to 8 where I went too far along the edge of the creek as it was pretty lake like. Slog through green to find the track past the substation to 11a where caught by Brazil-guy, Shingo and Barbara. Together until 15. Decided to try and push along track to mini-course where encountered undy flat on his face. Got overtaken by atsip and Graeme D through 15-16 but somehow managed to get ahead at 18 and caught sight of Shane and Brazil-guy. Stayed with Shane until end both of us skipping 20. Tough course but legs and lungs felt ok except on the crushed aggregate.
