Running 1:00:00 [3] 7.0 km (8:34 / km) +385m 6:43 / km

Walk/run up eastern face of Mt Pearson from Cosy Corner (sea level) after work. Bloody awesome views from this side of mountain. I think I prefer running in steel capped blunnies.

Mountain Bike 40:00 [3] 10.0 km (4:00 / km)
shoes: Wellgo MTB

Home-Dora Pt on roads - Grants Pt to Skeleton Pt on tracks - Home. Only fell off twice, once off the top of a granite boulder, can't seem to unclip fast enough yet or downshift for unexpected obstacles..chain just jams on large sprocket..oh well..gotta have more momentum to start with I guess.

Mountain Bike Orienteering race (Tasmanian MTBO Championsh) 1:36:00 [4] ** 25.0 km (3:50 / km)
spiked:10/10c shoes: Wellgo MTB

Started off slowly, just couldn't get my bearings trying to ride along a track that was overgrown by tea tree. Aparaently took the harder route choice to 2 (8.5km leg) with much more climb. So lost it there. Rest of the race was pretty cruisy until I spooked a horse and its rider did one of those 'hi ho silver ,,away" type horse maneouvres..ended up 5th...if it wasn't for all of the over 40's entering opens then it would've been 2nd. Get'em next time.

Note fix cleats so that I get the bloddy things outr of the pedals easily. Not a good look stacking at a control.

Mountain Bike 30:00 [4] 7.0 km (4:17 / km)

Out to Grants Pt and back around Road and up fire station hill with my new Clipless pedals. How the bloody hell do you get out of these things quickly? Managed to fall on my side twice after coming to a stop trying to ride up some granite rocks. Once was trying to get off teh bike in the driveway at home!

Orienteering race 39:30 [4] ** 4.7 km (8:24 / km)
spiked:17/19c shoes: Silva rubber stops

Tasmanian Relay Champs - Five Mile Beach

First time on this map which apparently is a regular for southerners. Butterfly loops set be Lee A mixed it up a bit.

Went out as last runner in the 'Senior' class for EVOC. Browny fucked up the first control on his leg, so we had a DNF before I headed out.

Happy with my pace, even though it was very slow compared to others. Didn't sway to far left or right and proud of myself for actually using a compass. Tried to force myself to maintain a steady speed and momentum and not stop to look at the map or for a rest. Worked well, particularly when trying to concentrate on not twisting an ankle on a pine cone.

Tried to get the fastest finish split but put that right boot into a rabbit hole and bang ther goes the ankle again! Limped into the finish.

Turns out we would've won the senior class by about 18 mins if we didin't get a DNF. Oh well we weren't the only one's.

Orienteering race 33:50 [4] ** 3.2 km (10:34 / km) +140m 8:41 / km

Tasmanian Sprint Championships - Stringybark Gully

A long sprint athat I just could not sprint on, well at least up the hills anyway. Interesting area with some mining? detail and old relics set amongst the hills topped with the rare Eucalyoptuis risdonii (Risdon Peppermint)

Navigation was very easy although di manage to make a oparallel error in oxygen debt comuing downhill to 13 where Ryan went apst me like a steam train.

Very slow, legs felt heavy, paying the price for not training. Managed to power along the track and twist my right ankle about three times while looking at the map on the move (lots of bandicoot and possibly bettong holes about) I think this will be my last weekend wit hteh Silva O Shoes, my ankles just can't stand up to punishment anymore. Bought some 'Mudclaws' over the net..see how they go.

All in all slow, slow, slow.

Mountain Bike 30:00 [2]

Got some new MTB shoes in the mail. Never used clip-in pedals before so went for a ride around Binalong and up to Humbug's. Better start training 'cause I've bought my ticket to Newcastle.

Anyone got any clues about taking bikes on planes? Can you take much luggage as well? I guess I'll find out.
