lovely long run with Linear ice, pwentz3l and Space Monkey taking in the Mississippi, Minnesota River, Minehaha Falls and Fort Snelling. Some fun clambering sections and some great views. Then pumpkin icecream yum yum :)
It's so cool to get to see the surroundings and not just be stuck in the city at a conference. Running definitely is a great way to sight see!

Arrived in Minneapolis and headed out to try out the Hilton's "Jogging track" which conveniently was the lakes route that I had been recommended :) Less conviently the 'map' said it was 5.6 miles and i foolishly believed it. Adding up the sections it gives tells me that it is actually 7.6 miles... It was quite dark and I was worried for a while that I wasn't going to find the lake of the isles but did in the end. Nice running through the fancy neighbourhoods and the lake was good too, although would have been better in the light! Some nice nighttime views of downtown on the way back in. Impressed with the city so far :)
Calfs quite tight still...need more stretching.

Long run in the Blue Hills with Coach. Really lovely place to run - we took in some nice wide flatish trials plus some of the skyline trial which was quite rocky and upy downy. Amazing view from the top of one of the hills looking over the whole of Boston and surroundings. The rain got heavy towards the end and we were soaked through by the time we got back to the car, although I hardly noticed it when we were running. Didn't feel like we had been running for this long at all so must have been good!!

Then delicious dinner at the Saeger's place :)

Headed south from the hotel down to Carson beach. There is probably a lovely view from there when it's not so misty! Nice though and quite refreshing to run in the drizzle. Found a hill to run up and down which was fun and managed to get back to the bridge without getting lost :)

Zumba class at the hotel gym. Really good fun and great way to loosen up after a day of conferencing :) In general I am pretty terrible at the start of a song then get the hang of it then the song changes and I am back to terrible again. Doesn't matter though, music was great and feel very bouncy now!

Decided to do some cross training. This is supposed to be my off season easier block after all. Headed down to the hotel gym for some cross trainer action. Tired after a long day of conferencing but felt pretty good once I got going.

core and glutes

This is by far the best hotel gym I have ever been in. They even have a foam roller which made me very happy :) (but hurt my calfs quite a lot!)

Boston Tufts 10k for Women
Tough! I got carried away a bit at the start and ran too fast then paid for it later on. Didn't really have a strategy having not thought much about the race so lined up in the 6 - 7 min/mile box and just went with the flow. As there weren't many people in either the 5-6 or 6-7 box they pretty much merged and I just set off running with the people ahead which was a mistake. It was really hot (almost 30oC) and I suffered alot. Got a stitch with about 800m to go but just manged to get rid of it before the finish. Only the third 10k i've ever run and my slowest so lots to work on... Great atmosphere and fun once i'd recovered! It's strange to run a women only race as it means that aren't that many people around. Ended up 113th and disappointed with the time but tbh just glad I finished it! It's inspired me to run some more road races at least...
