Event: Tiomila 2008

Running (L1) 17:30 [2]
slept:9.0

morning jog round hjorthagen exploring all the bits i havent been to yet
RPE: 4

Orienteering race 43:03 [5] 6.7 km (6:26 / km) +180m 5:40 / km

Tiomila first leg. I have to say i found first leg a very frustrating experience. It wasn't helped by starting 3 rows back and therefore spending the first 600m being elbowed, pushed and generally stuck in the middle of the crowd. I was already 30s down by the start kite :s
Managed to pass quite a lot of people on the track on the way to 1 but then lost 30s at 2 and so some got ahead of me again. There was quite a lot of branches and stuff on the ground whch made overtaking the train very difficult and i spent alot of time using far too much energy trying to do so before realising it wasn't gaining me anything and i should wait til the next field/track. A couple of the other wobbles, particulary in the vaguer area, but technique was generally good even though i felt a bit out of control at times. Came back 31st, 4 mins down on the fastest but only 2 mins down on 6th and the main pack. Best of the Lidingö first leg runners which was very satisfying and maybe they will have more faith in me next time! Our team finished 39th, best 3rd team :) (the 2nd team were 28th, best second team so its only the first team letting the side down, hehe. Impressive runs from Ingunn and Emma D though winning their legs!)
RPE: 9

Running warm up/down 20:00 [2]

Note

hmm, winsplits tells me i lost more like 50s at number 2. that and 16 places (on my gaffle). dammit.

found out this evening that i've been put in the 3rd team for tiomila which is quite frustrating and put a bit of a dampner on an otherwise good weekend.
