shoes: New Balance 759 take 2

6 x 10 x jumping squats with the 15 bar (so ~35 total?)
core stuff
single leg lunge squats

I remembered why I dislike the S10 weights gym. Full of blokes who prance around thinking they are big and know what they are doing when in fact they are rubbish. Will try and leave in time to go to circuits next week instead!

Still feeling dead this morning but decided to go out anyway and was pleasently surprised. From Cutthroat Bridge up to Back Tor with Alex and Oli then back on my own. Such a great day, drizzly windy and really fresh. Totally loved it and felt so much more alive after. The Peaks air is good for me :-D

Note
(rest day)

Worn out so had a lie in when Alex went down to the park run.

Need to reduce all the streess in my life, it's not good for me.

Up early to go to a careers convention at forge valley school so no time to train.

Decided to try to shock my body into action with some hill reps.
4 x blake street then 1 x upperthorpe. I am so much less fit than last year!! Time to plan some real training again I think...

Circuits at Hallam. It's a new guy taking the class and it's not as good as the old one. Almost all upper body with some boxing thrown in. Fun still but not the same kind of work out as it used to be. Time to find a new circuits class...

Ian Hodgson Mountain Relay, leg 2.

Low vis (~10m), wind and rain - perfect running conditions! Absolutely loved it :-D

A last minute change on saturday saw me running with heather, a little bit concerning as she is significantly quicker than me, but I needn't have worried, she was really good at waiting for me and we had great fun. One of the best moments was when she turned to me and asked "you actually know where we are on the map don't you?!" Quality :-D
The first part was a slog up hill but we got pretty good lines and battled against the wind to the top of high street. We took a good line where the path wiggles over the next bit (I confess I was winging it a bit, but it worked out well) and overtook a few teams that had caught us up, then overtook penine on the rocky desent. The bit over the rocks on stoney cove pike was fun (and aptly named) and we were with a few mens teams. The team in front ran straight past the tarn as we turned into it, and just as heather punched about 10 teams appeared out the mist coming from the wrong direction back to the control. Very satisfying. We then pegged it down the ridge trying to stay ahead of as many of them as possible (except for where my shoe came off in a bog and we lost 15s).
We picked up loads of places and came back in as second ladies team. Only Ambelside beat us on our leg and then ended up winning by miles.

Great to be back out on the hills in the lakes and there's something very satisfying about running in those conditions. It's also nice to know that being an orienteer can pay off in fell running sometimes!!

Really cool to see all the dark peak teams do so well - men 2nd, ladies 3rd and men vets 1st vets and 6th overall - ace! Bring on the FRAs... :-D
