X-C Skiing (Skate) 1:52:12 intensity: (30:00 @1) + (30:00 @2) + (30:00 @3) + (22:12 @4) 16.57 km (6:46 / km) +344m 6:08 / km
slept:9.0

morning skiing from our apt along the red classic trail, then A1, B1, B10, C8 and part of B3 to the Ferienheim for lunch. We ate here several times last year and it's still exactly the same. Good morning, beautiful day again and nice trails. The B10 red has a huge hill in it but it's quite a sensible gradient for the most part. C8 had a whopping hill that i'd totally forgotton about, defintely needed water and food by the time we made it to lunch!

X-C Skiing (Skate) 1:07:37 intensity: (47:37 @1) + (10:00 @2) + (10:00 @3) 12.47 km (5:25 / km) +138m 5:08 / km
slept:9.0

round the red B3 at Wildmoos then down C2 back to Seefeld. Whilst C2 is predominately down hill it also contains a disappointing amount of climb. I was rubbish for the first half hour round the red, hadn't digested lunch properly and was having trouble getting any energy into me. The downhill sections cured that though. Very tired by the end! Met Mark and Alice and co in Seefled and stopped for an orangenpunsch on the way home :-)

slept:9.5

Great morning skating with alex and hanne. Started in the centre after showing mark the supermarket then round the blue loop, Mosern twice (with coffee stop on lap 2 - it took 20 mins to get service then the coffee appeared 2 mins after ordering!) and home via the extended red classic trail as we missed the cut through to home... Amazing morning with blue sky and sunshine and nice snow :-D
3 PM

X-C Skiing (Skate) 1:08:01 intensity: (30:00 @1) + (20:00 @2) + (18:01 @3) 9.94 km (6:51 / km) +107m 6:30 / km
slept:9.5

Afternoon loop with alex, hanne and mark. Started mark in the deep end by doing the classic red trail and down the hill with sledging kids. Round the blue loop and Mosern and home on the red classic trail just before it got fully dark. Found the cut through this time :-) Glutes tired already but really getting the hang of the techniques again and seem to be a lot better at V2 than ever before. Maybe my balance is just getting better... Good day on the slopes :(D)

slept:5.5

Arrived in Seefeld early enough for a quick spin round the trails. Took the headtorch with us, but for the first year alex didn't bring his and I did bring mine so we only had one between us. Very generously I let alex wear it which made the first classic red trail quite entertaining. Then we did a few loops round the lit night trail and walked home, failing to find an open supermarket. Great to get back into it. Really fun and looking forward to skiing in the light tomorrow!

nice ride out with ian and alex - back roads to Great Ayton then up to Gribdale, over to Kildale (would have been better with a cross bike here), up Clay Bank, down to Chop Gate for mocha, up to Carlton Bank, down it and home. Learning how to ride non-handed and do track stands. today they destroyed me. fun :-D

Great ride with Ian and Alex from home, out through Craythorne, Sexhow, Carlton Bank (ouch!), Chop Gate, Hawnby, Osmotherley for mocha in the Queen Catherine and back home through Swainby. Cool inversion meant the moors looked beautiful on the way out. The back side was quite misty and damp so no view but quite atmospheric. The climb from Hawnby up to Osmotherley took forever and we nearly got wiped out by postman pat. Lots of dodgy overtaking maneouvers on double white lines but no crashes today. Quite wet bfy the end, especially my feet from a flooded road but really enjoyed it. We destroyed ian again too ;-D

Not quite what I was expecting when I set out...
beautiful start to the ride with alex and dave up past damflask and down to hathersage. Alex and I headed on through Grindleford for an extra loop then up Froggatt edge from Calver. A speedy bloke came flying past so Alex took on the challenge and they sped off up the hill. I was making good progress when a landrover decided to overtake me on a blind corner. Unfortunately for them there was a flat bed truck coming the other way. The truck hammered on the brakes and skidded, but the landrover was still well over the white line. In slow motion the two front corners collided, stuck together and twisted in the road. The back of the land rover wiped out the wall and ended up overhanging the edge. I managed to stop about 2m from the back of it and just stayed on my feet. Fortunately everyone was ok. Then came 55 mins of 999, waiting for the police, giving statement and helping lots of other cyclists get their bikes over the debris. I have to say that the policeman was rubbish. The women that had been driving the land rover was quite shook up (well you would be if you'd almost killed yourself, 3 other people and a dog) but her husband was blaming it on the truck swerving seemingly having mind blank that his wife had been on the wrong side of the road. The policeman took her to get warm in his car and take their statements, leaving the truck driver (who'd bashed his knee) and me freezing outside. I was the last he spoke to and the first thing he asked was "so you two were riding together were you" as if he thought it was my fault. grrr. The nice part of the whole incident was the number of other cyclists who stopped to check everything was ok and express their displeasure about another idiot driver. I hope her insurance premium rockets.

7 Hills Race. Really glad to see Lucy there and we ran the short course together. Ran relatively hard but chatted most of the time. By the end we were both starting to break. Tough all on roads but mainly I'm out of running shape and need to actually do some exercises and stretching now I'm training again (rather than just going to the pub)...

RIDICULOUSLY windy. Good lesson in bike handling for me though. I'm getting faster too :-)
out to Hathersage, via what's becoming the usual route, where we were supposed to meet alex's mum. However she managed to drive round in circles for 90 mins and then gave up and went home (how hard can it be to find hathersage?!) so after a fast mocha and crumble we sped back to aleviate mad-mother-in-law syndrome...
