Day 2 of Classic Champs at Truckee. Not as clean as the previous days, but I felt like I was running faster. Overall, my time was similar to yesterday, but most other folks were faster, so I was further down the standings. I did manage to hold on to second place in F50+. Big mistake at number 6. I drifted too far south and hit the trail southwest of 7. This was very confusing because at that point the trail is oriented funny and I had a hard time figuring out where I was. Eventually I figured it out, found 7 and then made my way back to 6. Also lost some time on number 8 because I saw this obvious knoll along the route, but mistook it for a mapped earthbank (not noticing the knoll itself on the map). So I thought I was on the line when I wasn't. After passing the knoll things weren't lining up and I figured it out and corrected. After that I was just tired and took nice, safe route choices. Fun weekend. It was nice to get out in the woods again.

Day 1 of Classic Champs at Truckee. Like yesterday, I didn't really have any major mistakes, but just felt slower than I would have liked at moving through the terrain. I mostly read the big features and ignored a lot of details. Lots of contours and compass work. I really thought that my route from 3 to 4 - somewhere between the trail to the south and the hilltop and somehow ending up ending the trail just about due west of number 4 - was less than optimal, but winsplits doesn't show it as an error leg. The only thing flagged is 4 to 5. I fell a little downhill and ended up at the set of boulders southwest of the control and then had to correct when there wasn't a control there. I'm now 13 minutes behind Kris and she is clearly running faster than me, so I don't expect to make up time on Day 2.

Sprint at Northstar Ski Resort. More hesitation and minor route baubles than I would have liked, but basically clean. Seems to have been a good run compared to my competition. I'm definitely rusty having not orienteered or really run off-trail since June.
