Boras city sprint

Wasnt so keen on running, legs pretty sore, but glad I did.

Same course the elites had done a bit earlier. Roisin and I had to be in quarantine by 17:45. I Thought she had it under control. She thought I had it under control. Just made it in time.

Felt really weird being in quarantine again after two years. Really glad I did this race to get the feel of high pressure races back.

The first 14 controls were pretty technical, the rest a bit of a run. Made one 8 second mistake, running around a building extra on the way to 5. Maybe not the best route choice to 6 and 7. Just missed the turn at 14. Good otherwise.

Keen to iron out the smaller misses before WOC

Orienteering race 1:10:27 [4] 7.5 km (9:24 / km) +180m 8:23 / km
shoes: Inov8 X Talon 190 Blue

Doing pretty well up till 9.

Not so good route to 3. Insanely stupid mistake on 9. Found the correct control. Read the wrong code. Ran away. I saw Simone Niggli 20 seconds before I got there. Perhaps a bit starstruck.

Jogged to the last control and dominated the finish split.
Beat second place by 3 seconds. Lead by 2 seconds overall. Going in to stage 3 with the green jersey.

Running the elite sprint tomorrow afternoon.

Orienteering race 1:04:46 [3] 7.6 km (8:31 / km) +150m 7:45 / km
shoes: Inov8 X Talon 190 Blue

Took it pretty chilled, navigation was pretty decent stuffed up 2 a bit. Otherwise probably poor route choices. Need to skirt around the marshes a bit more and just get rid of those uncertainties. Wasn't too bothered about today. Will give tomorrow a bit of a crack and definitely race the 4.5km stage as hard as possible.

Note

Second in the finish split by one second.... shit.

Blaming it on my first generation SI
