Day 2!
If I were rating this run on one of those bubble surveys, I would pick the middle one. I didn't do anything extremely disastrous in particular, but I didn't do anything spectacular either.
It probably would have been better if I'd planned more ahead/had a sense for big features to just run to. As it was, I sort of chugged along as close to the line as I could, vaguely keeping track of rocks and swamps and contour features that I passed. On the long leg (control 5) this almost backfired because I lost track of where I was on the map, but then I got really lucky and passed a double boulder feature that was really unique and I recognized it from going to control 2.
In general, I need to be faster, which is interesting as usually my slower runs are a consequence of doing something navigationally unfortunate. Training this semester has hit a low that probably hasn't been lower since middle school, but I don't think that'll be able to change significantly until December. Can't wait!! Over the holidays and into next semester and beyond I'll get back into it, just have to get through the next couple of months.
