OK let me set the sence I'm in OK shape and the sun is out so having run this race before I take off at what seem to be a good pace...
Leg 1 takes us to the Block house +_8km 38:09 about the same time as I've run that leg before...
Leg 2 the contor path to the Nek 53:56 +_ 10km also about the same time as before.
I'm going OK and feel that I'll do OK with the log 3rd leg to come. This I've divided into a couple of splits. 1st down to through Orange Kloof to the style 12:42 still running the same speed. 2nd a run alone a "contor" to Suikerbossie 20:19 less than 60sec off pace, and I had taken a tumble!!!
3rd This is wear the race starts, the climb up Llandudna corner 32:25. could have been 5-10min faster... legs start to cramp as I was taking to big steps up the mountain. 4th bit, along the Twelve Apostles to Kasteelpoort. 1hr07:00 (15min of pace) I was now cramping , but still about to move. next section, down Kasteelpoort 36:08 (15:00 on a good day). By now I have take to sitting down as when I cramp I can't keep my balance... Then Eddie who was with me for a bit fell off the path and was lying there with his legs in the air holding onto a twigg... made it down to the pipe track the 20min run needed to finish took 57:47. I wasn't a happy man. maybe I hadn't drunk enough!!! but I don't think it is down to the race day, but the week leading up to the race.
Enough said I'll live, my Friend Will won in 3h57 he had caught me at the top of Llandudno corner.
