Allambie Heights, Manly Dam. I just can't cope when it gets dodgy. I just lose chunks of time when the map is a little bit off, or the flag is behind a bush (12 -1min) or maybe placed a little bit off (no. 13 -4mins). Others can cope - why can't I?

A case in point- no. 13. GPS shows I went straight to the centre of the circle (=/-5m). Couldn't see the flag. OK - this part is my fault - wandered off to the southwest (should have searched the circle area more thoroughly. In the midst of those wanderings caught a glimpse of Simon running where I had just been. A minute or too later Patrik arrives, we meet and greet, again close to the circle. He goes off and finds it a 15 seconds or so later; I've gone the opposite direction but hear his call. Turns out the flag was behind a tree about 10m away from where I first stopped. Not only that, it is visible from a track (on the non-approach side) and less than 10m from it - supposed to be more like 25m. I guess I need a better plan when I first arrive at the control point and can't see the flag.

Caught up to Undy after he waited at West Head turn off. Got as far as the Wildflower Garden Hill, but something happened to Undy there. I didn't realise until 3km later - waited at Patersons but not much I could do; got back in time for card opening (Aoife's 8th birthday). Climbs Akuna 11:54, McCarrs 9:55.

From Chatswood West. Very tired and the quad cork is still there.

First time on the 300m Chatswood Bike Path. Needed to see the "Beware Falling Pine Cones" sign as well as the 100m spaced two places with "Cyclists Dismount" signs and the dodgy busy road crossing halfway.
