6.25am: 36 degF, but nice watching it get light as I cycled the loop. Went on the path out on West River Dr. Finally hit the 1,000 mile mark for cycling for the year.

8.30am: Still feeling blocked up with a cold, but getting out for some fresh air was needed. Chilly 39degF and cloudy. Cycled the loop twice and down to south street bridge and back - had detour via ParkTowne as part of path closed due to repairs to river bank.

Late morning: Our usual Christmas walk in the Wissahickon, though just Carol, Heather, myself and Ellie. A beautiful day sunny and relatively mild mid 40's. a nice walk from Valley Green along Forbidden Drive to the covered bridge and back along the trails on the other side. Good to build up the appetite.

10.00am: Nasty wintery and rainy day so erg was best option. Been a crazy last week at work, so desperately needed some exercise. Slower tempo but stronger pull, probably better anyway. Sagged a bit around 13 min mark, but strong last 3 minutes. Resistance level 9, 290 calories burnt

11.00am: DVOA Event - Wilson Farm Park (Berwyn) - Sprint 1
Cold 32 degF. Wish I had buff on for neck as cold running. Straight forward course, good control punching practice - definitely needs some practice. Clean , but a couple of hesitations. Fun way to finish the year.

11.40am: Wilson Farm Park - Sprint 2
Very poor concentration, punched control 5 instead of 3 and didn't realize it until thevreal control 5 when coming into realized I had been there before and no controls were used 2x. So lost time to correct this by going to correct 3.... Course after that was pretty straight forward. At about control 10 and looking ahead, I realized I had punched control 15 as control 1. [Nice one! I had then proceeded to go right by the correct one on the way to 2.] Anyway caught up with Rob Wlkinson and pushed on through last few controls. Still had fun, but not ideal way to finish the year - a 'mp'!

9.25am: Cold 33 degF with a decent breeze, but sunny. Turns out they have closed a portion of the river trail from train crossing to skateboard park, so had to backtrack and up past Park Towne. Cycled out beyond Conshocken to the road crossing just after memorial and before Norristown sewage treatment plant. A decent ride.

1.25pm: As I have a nasty cold, a gentle run along the river. Saw SandyF at Lloyd Hall monitoring the adventure run, so stopped for a chat. Excited to hear she and Nate are planning a sprint series in the late spring /summer.
