slept:7.0 weight:204lbs shoes: Bike: Jamis Coda Comp - hybrid

6.15am: Cloudy,44 degF. Train blocking track so had to back track and up by Parkway. Cycled the loop down to South St Bridge, back to Lloyd Hall and home via skateboard park. Kept up a good pace with some good tunes to push one along.

Cycling 50:16 [3] 12.0 mi (4:11 / mi)
slept:7.5 shoes: Bike: Jamis Coda Comp - hybrid

9.30am: Took the day off work as Alison's last day and AJ arrived last night. Cycled the loop down to Soith St Nridge and back via skateboard park. Chilly 40 degF with a good breeze.

It has been great having Alison and Heather home for the holidays. Shame Alison is leaving so soon. Alas no runs together. At least one bike ride.

Cycling 2:03:49 [2] 26.0 mi (4:46 / mi)
slept:7.0 shoes: Bike: Jamis Coda Comp - hybrid

9.30am: Carol and I cycled out to Conshocken coffee shop which alas was not open. 55 degF and misty, so damp. Felt very Scottish. Out 1.00.25, back 1.03.24. Nice to get out and cycle and happy hit the 1600 mile cycling mark and over the average of 30 mins exercise per day for the year. Time to set new goals for 2016 which hopefully is much more orienteering and running.

Cycling 1:36:25 [2] 18.0 mi (5:21 / mi)
slept:7.0 shoes: Bike: Jamis Coda Comp - hybrid

9.30am: Feeling full still from all the Christmas food. Alison and I cycled out to Manayunk and back over the Manayunk bridge to Bala Cynwood, and worked our way through Wynewood and back up to Fairmount Park near Belmont and then towards stables and down hill to Strawberry Mansion bridge. ( End of Manayunk bridge to Strawberry mansion bridge 5 miles per Alison's garmin). Headed back on West River Dr to South St Bridge and then over to Rival Bros for coffee beans and back home via TPS. Train blocking track so back via skateboard park.
Fun ride with Alison.

Hiking 1:40:00 [1] 4.0 mi (25:00 / mi)
slept:7.0

Christmas Day traditional walk in the Wissahickon, nice to have the whole family. Unbelievably warm for Christmas Day 70 degF!! Thankfully it did not rain considering the amount over the last few days. The sun even came out at times. Walked from Valley Green out to covered bridge along Forbidden Drive, then back along the trails on east side of river. A good way to build up some appetite.

Cycling 48:39 [4] 12.0 mi (4:03 / mi)
slept:6.0 weight:203.2lbs

6.15am: Cycled the loop and down to South St Bridge and back via skateboard park. 68 degF at this hour for December!?! Planned to get out before the rain set in. Didn't totally succeed, but it wasn't raining hard. What was pretty cool was seeing the bike front light light up the water being sprayed up from fro t tire. My own personal fountain light show!
Pushed at a decent pace.

Cycling 54:58 [2] 12.0 mi (4:35 / mi)
slept:6.5 weight:203lbs shoes: Bike: Jamis Coda Comp - hybrid

6.05am: Got up and cycled the loop etc before the rain sarts. Interesting as for some reason part way along Wedt River Dr I just decided I should change from the road to the path and then not 2 minutes later I saw a fox who run parallel to me 15 yards ahead for 50 yards before darting into the bushes- very cool. Certainly made my morning. Stopped to try and take some photos of lights on Strawberry Mansion bridge, but didn't get the right angle. Hard to believe it was 55drgF at 6.05 am in Fecember!

Cycling 1:03:52 [2] 13.0 mi (4:55 / mi)
slept:6.5 weight:204.6lbs

10.45am: While Alison ran the trails I cycled Forbidden Drive starting at Valley a Green, down to Rittenhouse and back to NW Ave and back 1 mile + south of Valley Green and back to Valley Green. Cycled on my old redline mountain bike. Liked the knobby tires on the surface, but seat definitely needs raised. Alison had a good run in her new shoes on the trails.

slept:7.0 weight:202.2lbs shoes: Bike: Jamis Coda Comp - hybrid

11.15am: DVOA EVENT - Fort Washington State Park: Green course. Final event of the year.
An unbelievable day for December, partially cloudy and 70 degF!! Good course and had no real issues navigation wise, a couple of small errors in the circle, so happy from thaterspective, but ran(?) like a slug. Definitely out of running shape. Foot a little sore by the end.

Cycling 2:07:40 [4] 34.0 mi (3:45 / mi)
slept:7.0 weight:203.8lbs shoes: Bike: Jamis Coda Comp - hybrid

2.05pm: A gorgeous day, 66degF and sunny, not exactly December weather but certainly not complaining. Cycled out to Norristown transportation Center. 47.53 to Conshocken coffee shop - it was closed. Out 1.02.35. Back 1.05.05. Kept up a good strong pace both ways.
Amazed at people. On the hill near the skateboard park a little kid on a kiddie razor fell in front of me. I stopped to see if he was okay, got a mixed response, so looked around for parent. Eventually suss'd out who it was and the woman was nonchalantly walking down hill with other kid not in the least bit concerned. A busy path with runners, walkers, cyclists and she was letting her young kid just head down the hill at least 100 yards away from her. Lucky he didn't get hurt or hurt anyone else!
Anyway hit my revised target of 1500 miles cycling for the year so a happy person.

Stretching 10:00 [0]

Good stretch after cycle ride.

Cycling 54:17 [2] 12.0 mi (4:31 / mi)
slept:6.5 weight:202.6lbs shoes: Bike: Jamis Coda Comp - hybrid

6.20am: Later start this am, then got blocked at train tracks, so out Parkway and out West River Dr on path as more traffic at this time. The tree roots are really tearing up the path in quite a few places. Back via Kelly Dr and down to South St bridge and back via skateboard park as train blocking tracks on the way back as well. Slow steady pace, a nice morning.

DVOA Event- Batsto NJ: Green Course
First orienteering event since S6D at beginning of August. Nice to be out in the woods. Plan was to take it easy and if planar fasciitis played up I would walk/ stop. Bob Burg planned an excellent course requiring you to use accurate compass work and detailed contour reading. Had a dreadful time with first control, and attacked it 3 times, 2 of them walking in from attackpoint before I finally found it. What should have taken 3- 3.5 mins took 22.47!! I should have aimed off to the left, obviously a little rusty. Apart from that I then had a pretty clean run. It was good practice to go straight route for most controls reading the subtle contour detail. A lot of blueberry bushes to run through. While not fast, I was pleasantly surprised that I was running more than I thought I would. The weather was perfect. Overall, apart from the first control, happy with the run and it was great to be out in the woods orienteering again. Now at home, the foot hurts.
