slept:6.5 weight:199.6lbs shoes: Ascis GT-2000

11.30am: A beautiful day 55degF and fairly sunny. Glad to have Alison home to get me out running. We ran out West River Dr and up to Wissahichon and along Forbidden Dr to beyond the covered bridge. Didn't think I had it in me in my current fitness, but managed okay. Having a good chat as we ran was fun and a good distraction from thinking about it. A happy camper- Thanks Alison.

Cycling 36:25 [4] 9.5 mi (3:50 / mi)
slept:7.5 weight:199.6lbs shoes: Bike: Jamis Coda Comp - hybrid

10.00am: an excellent Christmas with Carol and Alison. Finally put the scale back in bathroom and checked weight - not good. Definitely need to work on this.
Cycled the loop. Kept in lower gear -3/6 and upped the cadence. Out on West River Dr 19.32, back Kelly Dr 16.52. Felt good to be out.

Stretching 9:30 [0]

Good stretch after run followed by breakfast at Sabrina's with Carol and Alison who'd done a gym workout.

1.00pm: dreary drizzly rainy day. Run along the river with Alison. There was a beautiful mist/haar over the river. Definitely plodding. I am so out of shape. It is good having Alison to get me out.

1.00pm: Slow plod but enjoyable run chatting with Alison. Out West River Dr over Strawberry Mansion Bridge and back Kelly Dr. Beautiful sunny day, 38degF. Good to get out for a run, much needed.
It is wonderful having Alison home and spending time with her.

Cycling 3:00:00 [1] 5.5 mi (32:44 / mi)

Went for a bike ride on Angel Island: San Francisco Bay with Carol, Philippa and Rob. A lot of fun, exploring the old military remains, the magnificent views of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge, and the fascinating history of the internment camp there which was the west coast equivalent of Ellis Island for immigrants. A beautiful day before the next round of rain in the Bay Area.

Orienteering race 22:00 [4] *** 2.13 km (10:20 / km) +82m 8:40 / km
spiked:16/16c shoes: Brooks Adreneline 2011

10.45am: sprint Golden Gate - Race 2: Point Lobos (lands end park) San Francisco.
Abandoned race 1 yesterday as the start got delayed so long I had to get back to Philippa and Rob's as thet were having a dinner party and b it was going to be dark probably by the time I started and I had no head torch.
Race 2: had problems getting used to magnifier but it was needed as eyesight on the move not so great these days. Enjoyed course, hesitated in a few places. Alas at control 13 my SI card stopped working, but Sue Keustner was just behind me and confirmed I was at controls. Even though it appeared to beep at final control, it did not register. Very frustrating, as when I was at start the clear and check was around the corner from actual start.
Debated whether to quit there and then an go and see some sights.
Approx time 22 min

Orienteering race 16:55 [4] 2.02 km (8:22 / km) +58m 7:19 / km
shoes: Ascis GT-2000

1.45pm: Sprint The Golden Gate - Race 3: Adolph's Bathing (Lands End NRA, San Francisco.
Started with the group after my seed. Still frustrated and not into it mentally. Pushed hard, a fun course in a small park with twists and turns. Alas I mucked up the first control on the second loop and miss punched, so all in all a pretty disasterous day orienteering.
Overall, the format is fun, the storm passing through really mucked up their plans, permissions hard the confirm. Vlad planned good courses in the terrain, but they definitely need more helpers to make things run smoother. Really like the idea of multiple sprints.

Ended up deciding to miss race 4 in The west end of Golden Gate Park as head not in the right place to run and I wanted to visit the California Academy of Science again which was phenomenal.

running 45:08 [3] 5.6 mi (8:04 / mi)
slept:6.5 weight:198.8lbs shoes: Innov8-2(Yellow)

2.10pm: beautiful day, mid 40's with a decent breeze. Got a pleasant surprise seeing Anjelica on the way. Pushed on the way back 21.53, (slightly under 8 min/mile (2.75miles). Best part no tightening of muscles!

Stretching 9:00 [0]

Good stretch after run.

Saturday Dec 6, 2014 #

running 34:42 [3] 4.1 mi (8:28 / mi)
slept:7.0 weight:198.8lbs shoes: Ascis GT-2000

6.45am: got a run in between the rain. A typical late fall/early winter morning, 41 degF, cloudy a slight mist and the smell of rotting leaves. The aesthetic theme today was spots, las in Dalmatian spots, but not actual Dalmatians. The few leaves on the trees, the bark of the London Plane trees, the varied colors of leaves on the ground and the white foam on the river. My graphic eye was obviously in high observation mode, my running more a plod. Still good to get out and stretch the legs.

Monday Dec 1, 2014 #

running 36:00 [2] 4.2 mi (8:34 / mi)
slept:6.0 weight:197.6lbs shoes: Ascis GT-2000

6.05am: Mild 51 degF and nice to start in the dark and watch it get lighter as one progresses. Train blocking crossing so backtracked to Parkwayand along the river. More of a plod this am, but too good an opportunity to get out.

Stretching 9:30 [0]
