slept:8.0 weight:198.8lbs shoes: Bike: Jamis Coda Comp - hybrid

10.30: Perfect day for cycling and muscles feeling a little less tight. Somehow the wind on West River Dr seemed to be in your face both ways . Did WRD put, back, out and back Kelly dr.

Stretching 10:00 [0]

Good stretch after cycle.

Friday May 30, 2014 #

Note

7.00pm: got a 90 minute massage which was more than needed. My neck and shoulders were bad and so were my legs. Too much stress currently at work. Also need more stretching.

Cycling 2:10:10 [2] 25.0 mi (5:12 / mi)
slept:7.5 weight:197lbs shoes: Bike: Jamis Coda Comp - hybrid

12.40pm: perfect day. Carol and I cycled out to Conshohocken along the bike trail. Out 1.01.30. Stopped at Cloe's water ice in Manyunk on the way back. Mango water ice is the best.

Saturday May 24, 2014 #

running 1:25:05 [2] 9.5 mi (8:57 / mi)
slept:7.0 weight:197.4lbs shoes: Ascis GT-2000

8.25am: a nice day so decided I needed a long run as haven't run much recently. Out West River Dr - about 1.5 miles in my right hamstring started tightening, so stopped and stretched it, then plodded on taking shorter strides. Built up an okay pace, but have to say the last two miles were a struggle and thank goodness for will power.

Stretching 11:00 [0]

Good stretch after run.

Friday May 23, 2014 #

Dragon Boat Racing 1:00:00 [3]
slept:6.5 weight:196.8lbs

6.30pm: dragon boat practice. A good practice considering some new people on the boat. Felt I was getting a decent stroke with right arm straight.

Note

Feeling down as the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Glasgow School of Art had a major fire. One of the worlds architectural gems and one of my favorite buildings.

Sunday May 18, 2014 #

Cycling 1:09:58 [4] 18.25 mi (3:50 / mi)
slept:7.0 weight:196.2lbs shoes: Bike: Jamis Coda Comp - hybrid

8.50am: a beautiful day, blue sky and 58degF. Cycled west River Dr to Falls Bridge, back to end of Schuilkyll river park then back out to Falls Bridge and back on Kelly Drive. Train crossing still blocked so had to backtrack. Pushed at a good steady pace. On Kelly Dr, stop/start in places due to people connected to regatta going on.

Good stretch after cycle.

Map Hike 2:30:00 [2] 5.5 km (27:16 / km)
slept:6.5 weight:195.8lbs shoes: Brooks Adrenaline AR7

6.40am: out placing the remaining controls for event. Beautiful at that time, low sun, a dew on the grass, the birds churping away, animals scurrying here and there and that fresh morning country smell.
Event went well - a good turnout considering it was Mother's Day. Perfect weather and folks seemed to enjoy courses, so what more can you ask.
Pick-up a chunk of controls.
Now to relax with a good beer.

Saturday May 10, 2014 #

Cycling 40:03 [3] 9.75 mi (4:06 / mi)
slept:7.5 weight:198.2lbs shoes: Bike: Jamis Coda Comp - hybrid

6.20am: cycled the loop out Kelly Dr and back West River Dr. Road closed on WRD which means you don't have all the tree root bumps etc on the path which was nice.

4.00pm: putting out controls at Norristown Farm Park. Started out drizzling, but after a bit stopped.
Some interesting birds and animals. Saw what looked like a fox and had a blue heron take off less than 60 feet from me and saw a couple of different types of turtles.

Stretching 7:00 [0]

Tuesday May 6, 2014 #

Cycling 41:53 [3] 9.75 mi (4:18 / mi)
slept:6.5 weight:198.2lbs shoes: Bike: Jamis Coda Comp - hybrid

Stretch after cycle. Right hamstring tight.

Orienteering 46:15 [4] 5.5 km (8:25 / km) +145m 7:26 / km
slept:7.5 weight:199lbs shoes: Innov8-2(Yellow)

DVOA Event French Creek Central - Green Course 5.5km
Cool cloudy day with spots of rain. Glad we kept to the northern half of the map and not on Mt Pleasure which is a misnomer of the highest order. As vegetation was only partly out visibility was good. Clean 1,2,3, then veered too far west for 4, but other than hesitation realized from contours that I was too high and dropped down into it. Clean to 5 and 6. Had a good plan for 7, but missed the east west trail, (ed Scott said it was all wet and muddy so the trail wasn't obvious). Anyway ended up down by lake, so lost a couple of minutes (will be interested to see split difference) on a more circuitous path route. Clean the rest of controls though almost missed the last one as circle very faint and line went right through it to finish. Poor Ron Bortz did miss it and had to come back as finish control did not have a code number.
Kept steady, still stopping a little too much and need more practice using the magnifier. Enjoyed getting on and running.

Map Hike 3:15:00 [1] 6.0 km (32:30 / km)
shoes: Brooks Adreneline 2011

Map hike with Carol checking control locations at Norristown Farm Park. A nice day, place still pretty wet underfoot from the deluge during the week.
