running 56:36 [1] 6.1 mi (9:17 / mi)
slept:8.0 weight:194.6lbs shoes: Acis T222N GEL-NE033

5.25am: Out when it was light, but before the sun got up and it got too oppressive to be running. A slow plod, think I am still a bit dehydrated and some muscles are a little sore. 70deg F, 73% humid. A beautiful morning at that hour, few people, the river was so still and everything is so green - sound of the geese and other birds chirping away, with a minor rumble in the background of traffic on the Expressway. Wish the body had been up to moving a bit faster - all in good time - do not want to pull the hamstring again.

running 42:28 [1] 4.6 mi (9:14 / mi)
slept:10.0 weight:196.2lbs shoes: Acis T222N GEL-NE033

3.00pm Damn Hot and Humid 84 degF 85% Humid.
A slow struggle in the heat, but wanted to try the new shoes. 2.5 miles in the middle between water stops was too far. Stopped at lloyd hall on the way back for 2 mins for water and to plaster myself with water to cool down. Feel the extra weight. If this hot or hotter, the 20/24 will be tough. Need to run more and lose some weight by the event in mid July

running 1:26:01 [2] 9.5 mi (9:03 / mi)
slept:8.0 weight:196lbs shoes: Brooks Adreneline 2011

5.30am: Still on Uk time so decided to get up and run the loop slowly to see if my hamstring holds up to decide whether I could join the 20/24 relay race team mid July. A slow pace, but that was fine and glad I got out early as it god hot and humid later on.

Note

Went looking for new road running shoes, especially to try something lighter. Seems like there are a lot of light shoes, but at the end of the day they have little support. Ended up getting a pair of Acis T222N

Note

After the morning meeting at GSK, a couple of us decided to head to see the Olympic Park. In the end you can't see that much and from the viewing place at John Lewis, I have to say, it was pretty disappointing and the directions were dreadful - from the subway, you had to walk through a shopping Mall!!! - captialism at its best!!
Enjoyed a good wander around the center of London - tried to see the new Boris Bus, but there are currently only 3 of them in service on rte 38 so gave it a miss.

running 41:00 [3] 4.25 mi (9:39 / mi) +163m 8:37 / mi
slept:7.0 shoes: Brooks Adrenaline AR7

KIppen, Scotland: Probably the last time I will get to do this run from Tirranmuir. Always wanted to know exactly how far it was and had the Garmin watch this time. Enjoyed running it with Alison as we are both recovering from injuries and praying they wold hold up.
Up the Black Braes, past the gun club and down through Wright Park and down to the Old Fintray Road. Along the Old Fintray Road to the Dasher path turn off and up the hill to the Dasher, over the filed to the back of the Tirranmuir field and home. This is a great run, you can add the extra hill by going via the gun club, but we opted otherwise. Three good hills and beautiful scenery and a gorgeous sunny day. Enjoyed the chance to appreciate this with Alison and have a good chat on the way. This is a run I will sorely miss once we have sold my mum's house.
A tough weekend going through the last things and saying goodbye to the place - we have lived there since 1968.

running 34:18 [1] 3.75 mi (9:09 / mi)
slept:8.0 weight:198lbs shoes: Brooks Adreneline 2011

9.30am: A beautiful Mothers day - Heather provided breakfast in bed. As such a nice day decided to try a jog. Walked up to Waterworks then ran beyond the Kelly Statue and back to Lloyd Hall. Hamstring started to feel tight so walked back from lloyd hall

Friday May 11, 2012 #

walking 1:20:00 [1] 5.6 mi (14:17 / mi)
slept:6.0 weight:196.6lbs

5.50am: A beautifaul sunny morning - can't stand not running, so decided to get out fro a walk. Ended up walking to beyond the kelly Statue to see the Titan rowing boat Toby Wallace had rowed across the Atlantic a couple of months ago. IT took them 31 days - on shifts of 4 rowing and 4 resting. An amazing craft with key sponsor being Talisker Scotch Whiskey. Talk about hard core!!!

Erg 15:00 [4]
slept:6.0 weight:195.8lbs (injured)

8.00am: Erg Setting 10, 3512m, Calories 210
Got into a good rhythm early and kept going.
Generally feeling stoggy and frustrated not to be out running and orienteering to let the hamstring heal. Missed the West Point A-meet. In the end watched Carol run the Broad Street Run amoungst 40,000 runners!
