Abel Tasman National Park NZ - Kayaking and Hiking Trip
A totally amazing day, perfect weather especially after 10 days a go they got 30" of rain in less than 48 hours! Took a river taxi out with 4 others, met our guide on a beautiful beach, then in a double kayak had a blissful 2 hours kyaking around some island with a lot of seals and saw a couple of penguins - into a cave and in a lagoon where we saw a kingfisher.Lunch on the beach

walking 2:40:00 [3]

Abel Tasman National Park
After lunch, a fabulous walk along part of the Tasman National Park Coastal Trail. Darren the guide did a tremendous job of explaining the trees, flora and birds along the way.
Then river taxi back to start.
A truely brilliant day.

Christmas in the summer in New Zealand on a hot sunny day - seemed strange. Travelling around NZ with Heather. Spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at Heather host family's parents south of Nelson on South Island. Morning run with John a friend of their family- a couple of good hills. Felt good.

Note

Fun Christmas lunch in the sun in the garden and then garden cricket - a blast. Later Heather and I drove to Nelson - practiced passing and kicking a rugby ball around

Note

A very sad day - my mum passed away (Christmas Eve in UK). The only positive thing is she lived a good life and as she wanted, she died in her own home.
