Orienteering race 58:30 [4] 5.7 km (10:16 / km) +185m 8:50 / km
shoes: High top 2

QOC Ran-it-Granite A Event: Classic Distance. Granite nr Baltimore MD
Damp drizzly morningto start with, but a good temp for running. A littlke slow going into control 6 as starting looking in a small reentrant before that was more obvious than shown on the map. (-30sec). My big mistake was control 7, where for some dumb reason I had it in my mind that the control was near the bottom of the hill so had to come all the way back up 3/4 of the hill. Comparing splits I lost about 5 mins here. Ran out of steam after nine, then had some gel and finished reasonably strong. Liked the change in technique required at the end with the intricate rock/pit features.
Tim Parson won in 51min +. Place 5th

Orienteering race 36:30 [5] 4.0 km (9:08 / km) +180m 7:27 / km
shoes: High top 2

QOC Ran-IT Granite A Event: Driver Road, nr Baltimore MD: Middle Distance race:
Time 36.30
Damp day, but nice temp once running in the woods. Made the classic error out of the start going down the wrong path. Realized mistake pretty quickly and was able to contour around hil easily. Lost about 1 minute. Nice terrain, relatively clean woods, the classic ridge and valley where you have to make sure you avoid parallel errors. Pushed hard. Only other error from control 11-12 where I went too far west out of 11. Lost just under a minute. Got 1st place just 3 secs ahead of Carl Childs

Orienteering race 19:00 [5] 2.5 km (7:36 / km) +75m 6:37 / km
shoes: High top 2

QOC Ran-It Granite A Event, Relay Race: Driver Road west of Baltimore MD
Team: Nate, myself and Alison. Had fun. Pushed hard, tired at midpoint hill.
