DVOA MASON DIXON CROSSING A-Meet: White Clay Creek - Green
9.00 am: good course planned by Tom Overbaugh using the best woods and a nice variety of legs. Kept good concentration, basically the fitness was the stumbling block. Long leg 8-9 opted for the road/field option as good underfoot, easy orienteering and chance to plan legs ahead. Still had to walk parts, so the south option may have been better.
Fun orienteering.

Note

US Relay Champs: in charge of relay change over. A long day from setting up at 7am to taking down at 4.30pm. Despite a map issue on IC relays it went extremely well. Not used to so much sun, so got sunburnt. Thanks to Carol and all the other wonderful helpers.

Cycling 2:18:00 [2] 24.0 mi (5:45 / mi)
slept:8.0 shoes: Bike: Jamis Coda Comp - hybrid

2.35pm: Carol and I cycled out to Valley Green and onto end of Forbidden Dr at NW Ave and back. Beautiful day, the trees trying to come out, the Cherry blossom looking good but past prime and the low vegetation really a carpet of green and yellow from the daisies just added to the ride. Definitely felt it on the way back, the juggling from the rough path - sore neck and shoulders.
Fun to be out on bikes again.

Trail Running 1:05:00 [3] 5.75 mi (11:18 / mi)
slept:6.5 shoes: Brooks Adreneline 2011

6.40pm: Sealing relay maps at Sandy's, and took some time for a trail run. Down past the horse ring then kept on the high path to Bells Mill Rd bridge, then up on the Chestnut Hill side, past Indian and high path to Valley Green and back to Sandy's. Had to walk some places, so need to do some more hill work.

running 41:17 [4] 5.1 mi (8:06 / mi)
slept:6.5 shoes: Ascis GT-2000

6.05am: A perfect morning though a little chilly 38degF, though blue sky and the Cherry blossom along Kelly Drive was magnificent, like running under a canopy of white - now that is the right way to start a day and be inspired to push along.

Stretching 10:30 [0]

Good stretch after run.

Cherry Blossom 10 mile Race, Washington, DC with Carol
7.35am. A beautiful day , sunny, a little cool ,but once going perfect running weather. Started off good, but hard weaving through people, then needed a pitstop around the first mile! Had great tunes, David Bowie's "heroes" was perfect crossing to and for the Potomac around miles 2-3. A really enjoyable course, great sights, including a glance of the new MLK memorial, though alas this year the Cherry blossom was only budding with a few trees, the magnolias in full bloom. Pushed hard and all the people helped pull/ push one along. Wanted to break the 90 min mark, so was a happy camper with my run.
A fun weekend with Carol, Donna Bailey and a running friend of hers Michelle. Alas Donna couldn't run as she accidentally stabbed the artery in her arm on Friday evening!! Quite a story!

A more interesting 10 miler than the Broad St Run.
