running 45:15 [4] 6.0 mi (7:33 / mi)
slept:5.5 weight:196.2lbs

Evening run in the Wissahickon while Heather had volleyball. Started at Springside school down to Valley Green then headed south 2.5 miles. Nice for a change and despite a lousy nights sleep pushed hard listening to Ian Dury & The Blockheads on the way out and Blondie on the way back. Pushed hard on the way back especially the last mile to Valley Green
7.14 down to Valley Green.
7.40, 7.45, 3.42, (0.32 rest), 3.52, 7.31, 7.03
A good run, now all I need to lose a chunk of weight.

Madison WI with Alison checking out Univ of Wisconsin
Drizzly day - watched the start of a road race in the main sq by the Capital 20,000 people and wandered around the Farmer's market around the square. Some great produce aand plants - shame it would be a problem to bring it back on the plane - did succomb to some excellent cheese. Took the official tour of the campus - a lot better than the engineering tour and saw some of the greener parts of the campus. It is a big school! 45K students!!
Flying home was a pain via Chicago's O'Hare

Flew to Madision WI with Alison to check out Univ of Wisconsin as she has to make her decision within the next week on which univ to attend.

Walked around part of the campus and along the lake. Seems quite an urban campus. Not quite what we expected. Caught an excellent talk by an alumni to women engineers. Took the Engineering tour which was average - the only exciting part being the new engineering building which was really nice and well designed.
Had nepalese food for dinner along State St.

walking (Course planning) 1:45:00 [1]
slept:5.5 weight:197.6lbs

LeHigh Univ Sprint Event Course Planning Field Checking: A nice campus. Need to check location for start. Interesting challenge with the campus being on such a steep hill to avoid too much climb and really limit the stair running downhill.

running 4:00 [1] 0.38 mi (10:39 / mi)
shoes: Asics 2140

Took Ellie for a walk along the river to Locust Point. She really wanted to run back along the river so we had fun passing the joggers as she ran her little legs off. (Ellie is a miniature daschund). She can really push you when she wants to run.

running 35:29 [3] 3.63 mi (9:46 / mi)

Run along the river to try to stretch out the thigh muscles. 9.03, 7.57, 0.32 (stop), 7.55. Stopped at Lloyd Hall, walked to Water works then sprint up the hill to the gazebo. Warm down run back home. Feeling dehydrated by end.

The perfect way to get some distance in at my current fitness. 7.44, 10.51, 11.25 with waterstop, 10.52, (0.75 mile 8.20), (Total 49.11 to Fall's Bridge, (1.25miles 10.52), 8.55, (0.5mile 4.22), 8.27, (0.32 waterstop Lloyd Hall), 8.35

Spent the day walking around the Mall in Washington DC with my aunt. The cherry blossom was just magnificent and the weather perfect with tons of people around. Visited the Vietnam memorial which is still extremely powerful through its simplicity, the women's vietnam memorail is so weak in comparison. The WWII memorial although the newest is very traditional, the figures in the Korean memorial very eerie. The FDR memorial is extremely well done and it is scary how applicable all the quotes carved in the stone are so applicable today. It is sad who incapable we seem to be to not learn lessons from the past. The vindictive bipartisan spirit in the USA and many other countries today is unbelievable especially when most of it comes from those who profess to be profoundly religious. A wierd irony there.
