Event: DVOA Batsto

Orienteering race 1:02:19 [4] 7.1 km (8:47 / km) +110m 8:09 / km
slept:8.0 weight:199lbs shoes: Innov8-2(Yellow)

DVOA Event -BATSTO, NJ Green course
First event of the season. Batsto is one of my favorite DVOA areas and a beautiful day. Zac Barker planned a very good course bar a loop at the end that meant mainly two road legs. A minor point as the rest meant you had to be concentrating the whole time.
Had a good clean run, overall navigating well into the circle and reading the subtle contours. First time using magnifier on compass and it definitely helped in a couple of places.
A good start to season in a fun location.

running 1:00:04 [3] 7.1 mi (8:28 / mi)
slept:5.5 weight:199.8lbs shoes: Ascis GT-2000

1.15pm: Finally a gorgeous day 55degF and sunny, though still a few spots of black ice on the path. Been totally drained of energy all week and woke up at 3.30am this morning and couldn't get back to sleep.
Felt good running out to Strawberry Mansion Bridge -out 29.48, back 30.16.
Much needed run. Looking forward to orienteering at Batsco tomorrow.

running 1:05:00 [2] 7.0 mi (9:17 / mi)
slept:7.5 shoes: Brooks Adreneline 2011

3.40pm: too icy to run first thing in the morning. Also feeling drained of energy at the moment. Also so looking forward to the end of winter. This 3 day cycle of snow/ice is wearing thin. Run out to Strawberry Mansion bridge. Interesting having to vary pace and technique with there being ice in places.

Stretching 10:00 [0]

Good stretch after run.

Note

In RTP all day. Luckily managed to get back to Philly without only 80 min delay. Enough of this bad snow weather - another ice/snow storm due on Tues night!

Sunday Feb 2, 2014 #

running 51:29 [2] 5.6 mi (9:12 / mi)
slept:8.0 weight:198.8lbs shoes: Ascis GT-2000

9.15am: beautiful day, about 36degF and partly sunny. Felt very sore starting out. I obviously did not stretch my thigh muscles properly yesterday and my hips felt out of alignment, so the first mile up to Lloyd Hall was a slog!?! Then it was a plod for the rest of the run if you can call the pace even a 'run'. Still the important thing was to get out and run as off to RTP this pm and we are supposed to get another snow storm tomorrow 4-6" of snow. Hopefully I will get back to Philly tomorrow night.

Stretching 12:00 [0]

Good stretch after run with special emphasis on thighs.

Saturday Feb 1, 2014 #

running 1:22:02 [3] 9.5 mi (8:38 / mi)
slept:7.5 shoes: Ascis GT-2000

9.00am: 37degF and a nice sunny day, so did the loop out Wesr River Dr (41.02), waterstop at Fall's Bridge (0.37) and back Kelly Drive. Pushed at the mile point to Lloyd Hall as song on iPod got me fired up. Felt good, tired at end.

Stretching 10:00 [0]

Good stretch after run.
