Orienteering 1:11:00 [4] 12.5 km (5:41 / km) +250m 5:10 / km

Harvester Leg 3. Set out with a good buffer of time to Craney. Took it steady and lots of safe path routes. A couple of little wobbles, but nothing to write home about. Running quite well, and keeping up with MC once he stopped going 'hard from the start'. Came back with still a big buffer to BOK (who were the most likely challengers.) Looks like everyone else had a good safe run too. Great event from ShUOC/Sheffield including a fun atmosphere and the UK's first GPS tracking at Orienteering:

Bamford Fell Race.

It was quick tonight and hard packed. After the usual banter start everything calmed down and i settled into a good rhythm in a wee pack in 4-6th with B$ND and Baker pulling away. Kept churning it out and by thornhill brink (avoiding stampeeding cows) I was well into 4th place. The final steep climb the chap in 3rd came back to me and i passed him by the trig. Opened up about 50m but he came flying past. He came back on the steep bit down through the gorse, but then he was off again. Coming through Thornhill he was well away, but then someone seemed to be closing pretty rapidly. It was B$ND and Bakerooney who'd gone off to visit somewhere else on the descent. Couldn't quite hold off B$ND on the road. So finished 3rd. The guy who was in front was a bit suprised - i told him that they'd run the race so many times that they should know the way by now. He told me that this was the first time he'd done it and he just followed the tapes. I told him that is what most people do.

Improved on time, but then you could hardly stand up last year...
