Orienteering race (Easter Day 2) 1:27:58 [5] 18.0 km (4:53 / km)

Came 2nd behind Simon. Fun fast terrain and, in the end, a pretty straightforward gentle classic race. Was very cagey through the first half, which was very hilly, as I didn't know how I'd fare up later on. In hindsight, should've just smashed it a la uppill. The second half was very flat, so one didn't need much in reserve. Heard I was clear in 2nd but 2mins behind Simon at the spectator (1hr in), so tried to push on but it was too late and a couple of tiny bananas meant I lost a small amount of further ground. Another basically perfect run though techinically, so can't complain.

Orienteering race (Easter Day 1) 36:47 [5] 7.0 km (5:15 / km)

Came 1st. Fortunately Simon took one for the team today and planned it, which meant both a great challenging course as well as opening the door for someone else to win. First half was quite straightforward technically but quite hilly and very fast underfoot. I went out conservatively as I thought I might blow up later otherwise. Passed Larry at #9 before heading through the spectator hearing I was winning. 2nd half of the course was really fun ducking and diving in and out of steep erosion gullies. Also quite tiring, so glad I had some reserves from the gentle 1st half. #15 was a bit scary crossing flat nothingness for a bit, but there were enough distinctive shapes at the other side to quickly pick up where I'd come out. Finished up with basically no mistakes, which was nice.

Orienteering race (Easter prologue) 15:49 [5] 4.5 km (3:31 / km)

At Jamestown, came 5th. Not expecting a great deal today but ended up reasonably satisfied with both the course and myself. Pretty simple (the course that is) but with a fair bit of variety. The railway lines and silos felt like a level out of Goldeneye. School bit at the end was good fun. Ended up 1sec behind both Larry and Simon - could end up regretting that in the final NOL scores. Lungs busting at the end from fastest run since Oceania. Oscar in a different league today.

Running intervals 12:00 [5] 3.5 km (3:26 / km)

8x 1.5mins at Jerrabomberra Wetlands. Haven't pushed hard in a fair while, so I was quite rusty. The pain was over fairly quickly though.

Lunchtime around the East Basin. I'm still occassionally coming across differences between the UK and Australia - today it was that the Hokey Cokey is the Hokey Pokey (and doesn't have the knees bend arms stretch ra ra ra ending) and that Heads Shoulders Knees and Toes is quite different too.
