Didn’t feel like running first thing in the morning after yesterday and it was 42 C today, so left it till evening for a jog. Felt super easy, but achilles weren’t great, especially left. Worse in these shoes?

Never done this session before. Unsurprisingly the 800’s got hard, but I survived to the end, hitting the targets for 3:30/km on the efforts.Glad to have made it through. Recoveries were pretty slow by the end...

1 more week of this stuff before hitting some longer intervals.

Started a 3 lap race of the jungle circuit just so there would be a bunch of riders around. Rode the lead in to the laps (13km-ish) and some of the first lap hardish in a pack, then got sick of doing most of the work and started working harder to try and drop the pack and gradually reel in a few people who went out too hard and blew up. Laps 12:19, 12:14, 12:11. 257W ave.
Starting flat out and hanging onto a group would have got me to the end faster, but wouldn’t have been any better a workout.

Struggling for energy and motivation the last couple of days. Failed to launch both mornings, but forced myself out the door this afternoon, deciding that doing higher intensity stuff on grass was better for me than concrete and also keeping more of the effort perpendicular to the wind.
Repeat of session from 2 weeks ago - 40 minute tempo @4:10’s. Paced it better this time and felt mich more comfortable. Still had a little in the tank at the end rather than blowing up just after halfway. Promising, but mich improvememt still needed!

Note

Went to the doctor, who diagnosed the annoying rash that I’ve had since the start of the year. Apparently it’s pityriasis rosea. Annoying but not serious and ahould clear up - in another 3-4 weeks. Hope I find some effective antihistamines nefore then so that I sleep better.
