Goal setting time for 2018.
Major thing for me to consider is that for the first time in my working life, I am now 100% desk job and no exercise. That's something I thought I'd be dealing with in 20 years time, not now.
Also worth considering is that despite my pretensions from time to time of being an athlete, I have exceeded 2hrs/week of running in only 4 of the last 11 years (and I was injured for 6 months of one of those 4).
I am also over 40 and haven't run high intensity intervals for years (even 2015 when fit didn't involve any shorter intervals).
Goal 1: (amount of training): Over 100 hours of running. Any other sports (Cycling / multisport dabbling) is a bonus.
Goal 2: (Consistency): Start running regularly before work again.
No weeks of zero exercise unless genuinely injured
Goal 3: (Performance): 5km sub 18 minutes, 10km sub 38 minutes
Goal 4: (Races): Undecided as yet. To be reassessed at end of March.
Possibilities include a silly trail ultra somewhere, Geraldton half marathon, WA Rogaining champs and the 3 State O Champs days. Will almost certainly aim to race something on the first weekend of the mid-year school break.
