run race (Harriers Newmarracarra) 29:34 [4] 7.5 km (3:57 / km) +112m 3:40 / km
shoes: roclite 285

Loved this run out near the spy base two years ago, but I was a bit fitter then.
Had remembered it being uphill at the start, downhill at the end and not too bad in the middle.

The middle was tough.

I started with 3km at about the same pace as 2014, then blew up and didn't have the mental strength to really hurt myself as there was nobody even in sight, so ran solidly through to the end. Less than a minute slower than last time, but seemingly something about the course was a little different as it measured 200m shorter...

EDIT: Looking at the GPS trace there was one little wiggle cut off in the third km, but the biggest difference was cutting off the north end of the loop before heading back up the hill towards the finish, so at least the bit that was cut was relatively flat.

Rogaine 4:12:00 [1] 16.7 km (15:05 / km)
shoes: roclite 285

Walking around the rogaine course for our Year 10 camp this week. Gumby mistake was not bringing a compass, which is no problem when finding controls, but less ideal when trying to get them in the right place.

Will have a new ODE teacher again next year, so will probably have to come out again with whoever that is coz apparently rogaine nav isn't as easy as i think it is. Neither is walking for 4 hrs ;)

Checking the GPS trace a couple of days later, it obviously took me a bit of time to get my eye in, as I didn't go anywhere near where the first one was meant to be - just eyeballed it from the wrong starting place and went and stuck it on the back of the wrong hill. OK after that. Oops.

run 43:00 intensity: (25:00 @2) + (18:00 @5) 9.26 km (4:39 / km) +6m 4:38 / km
shoes: Wave Rider 17 Pink 2

WU around the outside of the school, then fartlek on the oval next to my house by headlamp.

Plan was 8 x 3:2. Starting Waaaaaay too hard led to legs and lungs completely dying by the halfway mark. As is often the case when I run in the evening, the guts had had enough too. I held on till the end of rep 6, then headed carefully for the dunny block, only to find it locked. Glad my house is only a few hundred metres further away.

Sessions like that almost tempt me to get the school's line marker back on that oval's old 400m track. Just the one line would do me just fine for interval training... It's a few years since some moron added poison to the line marking, but I can just about make out the lines still.

Not that sad to not finish the session. Still felt like a worthwhile hit out.

run 31:30 [2] 6.5 km (4:51 / km)
shoes: Wave Rider 17 Pink 2

Not much of a run, but made it out of bed in the morning, which is still enough for me to count it as a win. Would have felt pretty reasonable apart from being wheezy for most of it.
