run warm up/down 15:25 [2] 2.66 km (5:47 / km) +11m 5:40 / km

C/D from secret training, including a bit of back and forwards on the new MTB track next to school so I can update the map.

Orienteering (Secret Training) 15:30 [4] *** 3.0 km (5:10 / km)
17c shoes: roclite 285

Secret Training is only secret because I hit stop instead of split when I started running, and didn't notice till I went to split at the end of the run.

Finally did the sprint course that Dad set for me around Strath which I never did in preparation for last year's sprint champs. Amazingly still managed to screw up a couple of times. Once when the straight line from 9-10 went straight through the circle for 5, and I duly ran towards 9, thinking it was 6. The other was not so much an error as forgetting where the legal cut-through (not marked on the map) was after number 8 (I was too lazy to run the long way around.

Map reading was atrocious, and I would have had to slow down heaps more if I didn't know the area inside out, so maybe not the best practice, but better than it might have been and a fun way to get out for a run after hardly looking at a map for nearly two years. Not at race pace anyways.

May re-run the course later for fun just to see how usable it is as a school activity. Now we have 10 gps watches, we could get kids to run courses with no controls out, upload their traces to the school map (I hope it is georeferenced!) and see if they actually went where they thought.

run 36:55 [2] 6.66 km (5:33 / km) +18m 5:28 / km
shoes: Wave Rider 17 Pink 2

First run in the rain for a very long time. Good fun, but probably not a good move to run along the MTB tracks in non-trail shoes when it is this wet. Large parts, particularly in the second half were like a skating rink and I was either dicing with a rolled ankle by running in the long grass off the side of the track, or with a pulled groin by sliding all over the place on the clay trail.

Made it back in one piece though, so all good. Last 700m carrying a Woolworths basket that I rescued from the river.

run 1:13:55 [2] 13.49 km (5:29 / km) +21m 5:26 / km
shoes: Wave Rider 17 Pink 2

A fun afternoon jog, with a few interruptions - catching a few pokemon, particularly in the first and last kilometre, plus a few knee+ deep river crossings, some dead-end trails and general exploration and one aborted attempt to cross the river on top of the weir (too much water flowing across the top on one side).
Given no gut issues, this may top Tuesday as the best run of the year.

run 38:00 intensity: (31:20 @2) + (6:40 @4) 7.69 km (4:56 / km) +13m 4:54 / km
shoes: roclite 285

Having stuck perfectly to my plan to run every day for the last two weeks, I figured it was time to implement phase 2 - adding some intervals. I'm not as dumb as I look, so I just did 10 x 200m with a 200m slow jog recovery to remind my legs what it felt like to run a bit faster. I was going to say 'to run fast', but then I realised that it really wasn't very fast at all...

approx 2km WU, including some run-thrus (not on trace) plus a cooldown.

run 58:46 [3] 11.09 km (5:18 / km) +35m 5:13 / km
shoes: Wave Rider 17 Pink 2

Round the Chapman River MTB trails, sticking mostly to the higher lines.

Legs didn't always feel perfect, stomach didn't either but that was SOOOO GOOOOD. Scenery was awesome, really green, lots of water in the river, cool, sunny day - just awesome.

Even remembered to de-flag some of the cross country course near the end. #onlythreemonthslate
