run warm up/down 10:00 [2] 2.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Wave Rider 17 Pink 2

2km WU. No CD. Will pay for that later, but by the time I'd stopped dying, it was about to rain.

run 34:20 [5] 8.7 km (3:57 / km)
shoes: Wave Rider 17 Pink 2

Greenough Pioneer Museum Run.

This was my best road run last year, when I would have described the course as gently undulating. Really felt the hills this year, and was dropped of Ben's shoulder before half way. Fortunately for me, he cracked approaching the 6km mark, and despite feeling like I was dying and slowing down, I still managed to stretch away towards the end to sneak in by about 30 seconds again.

Spot on 3 minutes slower than last year! (15:53 at turn, 31:20 finish. This year turn in about 18:10, so maybe he second half wasn't as bad as it felt).

Windtrainer (Giro watching) 1:00:00 intensity: (38:00 @1) + (20:00 @2) + (2:00 @5)
shoes: Avanti Blade

General faffing on the windtrainer, coz the rest of the day was such crap weather, and missing a training session makes bugger all difference when you train as little as I do.

Threw in 4 x 30 seconds flat out, just because I could. 4.5 min recoeries. Apparently doing this 3 x per week for six weeks makes you much fitter than endurance training. That's what the TV said anyway. The chances of me doing this 3 x per week just to find out are extraordinarily small.

Windtrainer (Giro watching) 1:38:21 intensity: (7:10 @1) + (57:55 @2) + (33:16 @3)
ahr:133 max:155 shoes: Avanti Blade

Didn't have the time to go for a real ride in daylight, so knocked out a windtrainer session in the shed, watching the Giro on my laptop and listening to music.

Did a bit of a warm up, then settled into a steady effort that felt challenging for the legs, but easy for the lungs. After about an hour, I decided I wasn't working hard enough, so cranked it up one more gear for the next 30 minutes. Initially thought I'd be lucky to last 5 min the way my legs were feeling, but it was a good reminder that hurty legs in cycling and hurty legs in running happen at very different points and are sustainable for very different time periods.

Not going to be fit for this Adventurethon thing, but it's good to remind myself what riding a bike feels like at the very least.
