The good news is that my legs felt really fresh. Kinda what you'd hope for after not training for ages. Also a bonus was that there didn't seem to be any little niggles during the run, although my quads were sore at the start, probably from being a bit overzealous with stretching the last two evenings.

Unsurprisingly though, despite trying to run at a really leisurely pace, fresh legs meant I just couldn't slow down to a proper slow run pace. It was just that little bit more taxing than it should have been - which I guess won't be an issue unless I actually start training nearly daily.

I did the maths a couple of days ago and figured out my target marathon, which has so far inspired me to do pretty much nothing is in 30 weeks. Given that there's nothing but easy running on the program until 18 weeks out, that seems like plenty, but the thought of being near peak training volume in 12 weeks from my current starting point seems overly optimistic. Will just have to try to start relatively sensibly and see what happens. The big test will come when I have to maintain a routine once back at work, but hopefully the next 5-6 weeks will be enough to get me back in the groove.
