run race 57:29 [5] 12.5 km (4:36 / km)
shoes: x talon 190.2

Augusta Adventure Fest Run leg.

Scoped out the line to the first turn flag before the start, but wish I'd looked around the corner... Faceplanted about 100m from the start, but still in a reasonable position at the first turn, but missed the high line just after the turn (needed to tuck in just after the fence) and found myself about 150m behind when we emerged from the rocks. Took until we hit the sand for the first time to get past tRicky who had taken the fast line. Then proceeded to run quite well, but missed a couple more lines - once in rocks and once missing the track between two bits of beach and getting stuck in thick scrub.

As a result, I ended up passing tRicky 3 times for the day and ran a slightly disappointing time, although only about 35 seconds down on the lead team runner (but that was SS, who I was beating consistently earlier in the year).

EDIT: Apparently there were 2 team runners together about 6 minutes ahead. Either they were so far ahead they were out of sight before I got out of the rocks or they started in the wrong wave.

Lots of scratches on arms and cuts on legs and knees, but nothing serious.

Travis and Brett had good legs to put us onto the mountain bike with a 17 second lead in the teams (over a veteran team) and Erik smashed their rider by about 10 minutes, so we had a relatively relaxed cruise through the team run to take the win.

Note

Scared myself more than a little during a PE lesson playing kickball. Had a kick and took off towards first base, only to have my left hammy grab suddenly. Pulled up pretty quick, but was jogging around school pain free in the arvo, so should be ok.

run 53:18 intensity: (20:00 @2) + (33:18 @4) 13.0 km (4:06 / km)
shoes: x talon 190.2

Intervals session that I was meant to do yesterday. First run in this pair of 190's. And first intervals session in who knows how long in a further attempt to remember how to run fast.

3 x 3km @ 'tempo pace' with 200m walk recovery between. Hoping it would be about 11 minute pace, expecting more like 11:15

Did 11:04, 11:06, 11:08, with the first kmn in each rep about 3:38 before getting closer to 3:45's for the remainder of the effort. Didn't feel quite as comfy as it should have, but recovered pretty quickly, so probably capable of running reasonably if I can remember that runnig fast is going to hurt a little.

Failure to launch - both for morning intervals and any form of easy afternoon/evening jog.
