Note

Was all set for an evening run till 5 minutes after I got home. Then the motivation disappeared and I didn't go. Had been feeling pretty tired all day, so amybe it was for the best. Or maybe that's just a lame justification.

Was subjected to a couple of hours of ice skating in the afternoon, so it might hav ebeen an idea to at least do a short loosener.

run (beach) 30:09 [2] 5.12 km (5:53 / km) +4m 5:52 / km
shoes: x-talon 190

Soft(ish) sand run from Brighton to Trigg and return. Felt like pretty hard work into the wind, but easy as on the way home. Medial knee niggle settled much quicker today and low impact obviously agrees with patella tendon. Still wary about doing too much on the sand though.

shoes: Saucony Cortana

Hmmmm. Well, this one wasn't in the program, but I was frustrated at work and needed to check my map and control placements for lightpole orienteering around Mindarie for work anyway, so drew a loop through all 53 controls and went for a run. Bit longer than I had anticipated.

Knee was sore medially at the start, this then faded and I felt good for a while, but then the patella tendon got a bit achey. Not too bad though. Pretty slow km rate due to having to stop so much and make a few map and control placement corrections.

Note

Getting increasingly likely to give up on Hoka one ones without trying them properly. Went to Subi Sportsfever on Sunday. Tried a pair on, but no hire pair. Only have them at Cottesloe. In a size 12 rather than 11.5, but figure that's close enough.

Leave work as early as possible to drive from Quinns Rocks to Cottesloe. Nearly an hour later I arrive. Ask about shoes. Only have a size 9. They have a 12, but it's not in the storeroom. Somebody has probably hired them. Not sure when or if they'll come back. Will give you a call if they they do.

There goes my running plan for the afternoon. Bugger.

Did get as far as doing a few sets of lunges today, focusing on knee tracking straight. Figure much of my knee issue currently is due to me collapsing my knee inwards at toe-off. Would certainly explain hte massive callus I get on the side of my big toe on my right foot only. Didn't feel too bad, so will try to do more. Have been avoiding starting similar exercises due to knee already being sore.

run 56:59 [3] 9.66 km (5:54 / km) +55m 5:44 / km
shoes: Saucony Cortana

Sand tracks and beach north of Jindalee. Got a bit disorientated on the way back, which I had hoped would be quicker than the outward journey. Knee pretty grumpy today :(

Saw a seal on the beach stretch. It was either dead or in a very deep sleep, as it didn't move as I ran past. Looked in one piece, but there were a few flies around, so I suspect the former.

run 32:06 [2] 6.5 km (4:56 / km)
shoes: Asics Kayano 17

A little play on the yabba dabba doo trail. Nice out, but didn't feel terribly inspired.
Looking forward to getting to Cott later in the week to test drive a pair of Hokas, but I'm far from convinced by my run up and down the street a couple of times.
