Rubbish night's sleep put an end to silly thoughts of an early morning windtrainer session.

cycle (River Loop) 2:07:30 [4] 65.0 km (1:58 / km)
shoes: Avanti Blade

First river loop from the new house. Seeing as I'm not right next to the freeway bike path any more, I headed to the coast first and down WC Hwy. Passed my first couple of roadies before I hit the highway. Turned out they were one of a few clumps of female roadies all wearing some ridiculous "It's all about me" tops. Passed lots of them before peeling off onto Challenger Pde coz it's a nicer ride. Back onto the highway and picked up a group in Swanbourne. Sat at the back for a while, but they weren't into slowing down for roundabouts or anything sensible like that, so I yo-yoed off the back a few times before giving up with a fair bit of solo riding ahead. Another group came through just down the road at their sprint point. I joined them when they all sat up, but they went straight where Tydeman hits Queen Victoria street, whereas I did my usual convoluted loop under the bridge to get o down to the foreshore.
Rode bits and pieces with a few other groups. Ended up accidentally in some roll-thrus for a bit, before they went a funny way where I hit the bike path to avoid Canning Hwy. Most of the later groups were too easy to sit in, so I had to leave them behind when we started any little hill.
A few cling-ons up the freeway bike path, but only one lasted till the Narrows, then thru town and home again.
Fun morning out apart from my back starting to seize after about 35 minutes and the fact that I seem to have forgotten to drink whilst riding. Bit thirsty at the end, but second breakfast was nice.

The fun never ends. Achilles still sore to touch all the time. That said, there's been very little stiffness walking around the house etc, even barefoot in the middle of the night, so I'm once again contemplating a little bit of jogging, just to see what happens...

And again. Really did plan on an evening windtrainer this evening, but family felt the need to go to Sizzler. Clearly the place for champion athletes, as I bumped into Glenn there. I have no self control, so anything harder than calf raises after dinner was totally out of the question. Will i get off my butt and have a ride tomorrow? I'm betting on no.

Morning and evening today. Still not fun, but equally, still don't seem to have the energy to get out of bed early enough in the morning to exercise properly before wifey goes to work. Will see if the routine of returning to work next week is a help or a hindrance.

Only the morning set. Thought about doing the evening ones, but bed was calling my name too loudly.

cycle (Floreat Renegade) 1:28:50 [4] 46.0 km (1:56 / km)
shoes: Avanti Blade

Last minute panic leaving the house when I realised that I hadn't packed bike shoes, then that my old 'bike shoes' didn't have any laces. Fortunately got there early enough to get set up on time... and then wait until Andre showed up for our huge 'group' ride.
Pace felt pretty solid for the first 2/3. A fast group came through at Leighton, Andre tagged on, but then they ran a red light and disappeared. Spent much of the next 20-30 minutes just dangling 100m in front of us.
Got a bit slack after CCGS, then Andre peeled off after the UWA sprint where my feeble attempt at an early attack didn't shake him and he came storming past.
Relatively gentle roll back to Floreat. Out of the carpark by just after 7:20, so looks like I could squeeze it in before work. Might be worth a try until I'm running properly again.
