Note

Just because I was still so full of energy (and becuase I hadn't gotten around to it on any of the previous 5 weekends, I drove to Swanbourne straight from training and spent 2 1/2 hours mowing lawn, whipper snippering, weeding etc for a friend that's been away for a while (and gets bcak this evening)
6 AM

cycle 1:45:00 [3] 50.3 km (2:05 / km)
ahr:129 max:169 shoes: Avanti Blade

Early start for a river loop with Tooms, Boltboi and TwoDots. Took a few km's to get going, but was a lovely clear morning, not too cold. Pace wasn't too taxing for most of the loop, apart from the two hills round the south side. TwoDots took off when we hit Mt Henry and we went pretty hard up to the narrows. Was ll set to dribble along at the back of our little train along Mts Bay when Glen Parkers came by at pace and, much to my surprise, Tooms latched on and I very quickly had a 20m gap to close to get back on to the back of the group. Wonderred why I was having to work so hard when I looked at the speedo and saw I was at 48km/h. Stayed about that pace thru to the end. Good fun.
8 AM

paddle 1:01:33 [3] 9.21 km (6:41 / km)
ahr:118 max:140 shoes: Spirit PRS plastic

Straight off the bikes and onto the river. Weird lumpy water at the start, just enough not to feel comfortable. Past Pelican Point it settled down a bit. Pretty gentle pace downwind. .. and Boltboi turned aeound early. Tooms and I kept going till Tooms needed a stretch at the half hour mark. Turned around and came back, working much harder, going about the same pace.
Tooms was nice enough to zig zag a bit, then I sat in his wash for about a km, but just couldn't quite hold it. Can't figure out why I have no paddling endurace :) after all that regular paddle training and all...

Strangely, for the first time I can remember I had no issues with my left glute. Didn't tighten up. leg didn't go numb. Wish I knew what was different. Hope it's not just that I need to ride 50km before every paddle session. Paddling is time consuming enough already.
10 AM

run 29:40 [3] 6.0 km (4:57 / km)
ahr:129 max:140 shoes: Nike Equalon 2

Just because training twice in one morning clearly isn't enough, we loaded up the skis, and Tooms and I headed out on a little jog. Took about 10 minutes for my feet to warm up, and quads were a little stiff, but otherwise felt pretty good. Time flew by, weather was great. Shoud do this more often.

Windtrainer intervals 55:00 [4]
shoes: Avanti Blade

Struggled a little with motivation after all the rain and wind last night, so bailed on the beach run and opted for the marshmallow softness of an indoor windtrainer. (That I had planned on doing yesterday). Normal pyramid, with the 1 minute ends cut off to save a few minutes, so 2-3-4-5-6-5-4-3-2 with 1 min recoveries. Felt like pretty hard work this morning. Sweated buckets. Don't know whether to blame the humidity, the new O top or a combination.

run 32:00 [3] 7.0 km (4:34 / km)
shoes: Kswiss somethings

Meant to be a 5km time trial, but I didn't get to eat lunch and couldn't last till dinner, so ate some arvo tea, and food in tummy and hard running = passing out, so I opted for pacing Tooms round the 5km. Didn't hurt so much :)

Stomach almost feels back to normal.
