Orienteering race (Peterdine RElays) 18:34 [5] 3.3 km (5:38 / km)
spiked:4/8c shoes: Salamon XT Wings

Wow - haven't seen that colour on my log for ages. Bit offline on the first and 4th, stopped early and confused after hitting my hip on a pointy rock on the way to number 3 (didn't see a track on the map). Got a bit smoother after that, although I ran straight past number7 (only by about 10m). Can into changeover 2nd, about 1:40 behind Craig, so not too bad

NB: Splits suggest 7 wasn't so bad, was about 30 seconds at both 1 and 3

Orienteering race (relay leg 3) 17:32 [5] *** 3.4 km (5:09 / km)
spiked:6/7c shoes: Salamon XT Wings

Again a little offline on number 1, but it was a much longer leg and I corrected earlier. Wasn't 100% sure where I was but relocated on the rock where my control was :) Rest of the run was pretty smooth. Only 38 second behind Craig on this loop, which was very encouraging.

Probably should have done a warm down, but I got talking and entertaining my kids and then decided to do the team thing and cheer in Bolboi. Team came 3rd.

Now more seriously contemplating giving this orienteering thing a crack again next season. Was good fun.

NB: 35 seconds of diff between me and Craig was on the first control...

run warm up/down 10:00 [3]
shoes: Salamon XT Wings

Mostly before start. Minimal between runs. Nothing after. Should have been more of all 3.

run 1:01:27 [3]
shoes: Asics 3000

Very unspecial run from school to the coast, trned north, ran a bit on the sand, then gave up coz it was very sloped and not very pleasant running. Saw a dead dolphin washed up on the beach jst before I headed up to firmer ground. Ran the roads till the sburbs end and then into the 4wd tracks in the dunes, which are now rudely interrupted by the boundary wall of the next suburb-to-be. Right calf was sore from the outset, left one joined in sympathy by half way. Started to feel my hip flexor at about the 40 minute mark, although it never got sore. Legs felt better than expected given the last couple of days, and nice to feel a little aerobically fit when running slightly longer distances.

paddle (The usual) 1:28:59 [3]
shoes: Spirit PRS plastic

Worked a bit harder and felt technically better than last paddle, but it made very little difference to the time. I wonder whether last time was not as bad as it felt or if I just totally suck at paddlng. Was 5 minutes faster to Garratt Rd Bridge, but was hard work finishing into the breeze.

Windtrainer 2:00:00 [2]
shoes: Avanti Blade

Boring and fairly cruisy windtrainer in front of the cricket and then the tour. Turned the TV off just as it was getting interesting as I really needed sleep. All in one (low) gear. Not surprisingly, lifting the front wheel so the bike was sitting flat delayed the onset of butt soreness significantly (but not for 2 hours)

cycle (River Loop) 2:24:50 [3] 67.4 km (2:09 / km)
shoes: Avanti Blade

Stock standard river loop. Steady but fairly easy for most of it. Not so easy pushing into the headwind all the way from Freo to Scarbs, but at least the wind direction gave me a cruisy run into town to warm up. Just wanted to spin the legs over to remember what it felt like to ride continuously for more than an hour. Mission accomplished.

paddle 1:31:33 [3]
shoes: Spirit PRS plastic

Finally got off my fat lazy arse and did some training. Felt slow and crap.

run hills (Ampitheatre) 10:42 [5]
shoes: Asics 3000

Oh what aworld of hurt. 3 short reps, 3 long reps (hill plus both carparks). Recovery down, +3 minutes between short and long sets. Then a long recovery before one last short handicap sprint.

53.0, 54.1, 53.8
2:18, 2:27, 2:27
47.8

run warm up/down 45:00 [1]
shoes: Asics 3000

Warm up, cooldown and recoveries. Approx

Note

Times are faster than last year on the short ones, but slower on the long ones (2:12 - low 2:20s), but last year both sessions I could find were recovery down + 1 min each rep, and we never did 3 short ones before hitting the first long one (June 08)
