Note

Almost did something active this evening as my energy levels appear to have returned to somwhere near normal and my low-level but annoying headache has lessened, but thought it better to just write off this week nad see if I'm right to go for a full training week starting tomorrow morning.

Currently feeling like much of my training consistency this year has come to nothing after the last few weeks.

Note

I'm getting really annoyed with Spirit now. Snapped rudder last Saturday. They weren't open then (Anzac Day) to my knowledge and certainly weren't open on the monday (widely ignored) public holiday. On Tuesday they didn't open the shop due to being short staffed, and the guy that was there in the factory couldn't operate the till and "didn't know the price" of a new rudder. Turns out he also 'didn't know' that they actually don't have ANY ocean rudders in stock. I had to go back to Osborne Park again today to find that out and get told in a chirpy manner "would you mind coming back some time next week?" Do I have a choice?? I can't really make my own now can I. Didn't seem to register that waiting until next week was going to make it somewhat more difficult to paddle THIS weekend. Grrrrrr.

Windtrainer 1:05:00 [4]
shoes: Avanti Blade

At school after work today. Felt OK warming up and thought I had gotten over everything. Was wearing the new MTB shoes to see if the cleats are in the rigt spot. Probably not, but I don't really know what I'm doing, so will have to play with htem a bit. 10 min w/u, 4x10 min, 3 min recovery, few extra minutes cooldown with token amount of single leg at the end. felt like a solid effort throughout, but surprised by how hard it seemed.

Made it thru dinner and have now crashed on the couch knackered. May not be quite 100% yet after all. Tomorrow am's run will be a struggle Tonights marking efforts will not happen...

Note

Knackered at school today. Left basically as soon as possible and finally found some decent MTB shoes at a good price, so bought them. Then went home via the Spirit shop to get a replacement rudder, but no luck. The workshop was open, with 2 guys making boats, but hte shop was shut as they were 'short staffed' and the guy who talked to me couldn't tell me how much a rudder cost, or operate the till etc, so I went home grumpy and will have to go back for about the 4th time on Friday.

run 45:00 [3]
shoes: barefoot

I'm sure Tooms said we were going to run at City Beach, so that's where I headed after waiting for Ian to get changed. Then ran to Floreat to find the group before doing 7 x 2min on, 2 min jog recovery on the soft sand. Coold Down back up to the City Beach shops.

After feeling good thru the holidays for a change, I came down with a bit of a cold last night, so didn't push the efforts really hard, but all the same, running on the sand once a week for most of the year has obviously improved my sand running. First sand intervals session usually feels really unco and hurts unbelievably, but legs didn't hurt at all and I felt really strong and springy. That flt good, but made me wonder how apinful and unco feeling it's going to be when I finally get back into the bush for a proper orienteering race...

run (beach run) 1:01:45 [3]
shoes: barefoot

The usual. No calf or quad seizing during run, so stretching over the last few evenings must have done some good. Hip flexors became quite fatigued in last 20 minutes.
