paddle 2:01:00 [3]
shoes: Spirit PRS plastic

Paddle from Claremont jetty along the right bank (must be the right one coz the Left Bank is on the other side) to the Fremantle traffic bridge and return. Cut a couple of corners a bit on the way back. Didn't intend to go for that long, but the way out felt really wasy and I just didn't look at my watch between 37 minutes and the turn-around at an hour and 2...

run 29:35 [5]
shoes: Asics 3000

there might be something to warming up after all. Felt good from the start and pushed pretty hard. Started the same way as Oscar and Sten and was slowly pulling away fom them. Split from Oscar, but then had him in sight on and off with an extra control up my sleeve for much of the run. Finally caught him, then went a different way again to get one more and knew it was in the bag when I passed Oscar and Sten running away from the finish when I was on a straight line to the end through my last control. Dunno about route, but it was my best run of the year...

run warm up/down 10:00 [2]
shoes: Asics 3000

Run from parents' house to Saw Ave for MetrO Kings Park plus a bit of fluffing aound once I got there.

cycle (commute) 59:15 [3] 29.0 km (2:03 / km)
shoes: Avanti Blade

Ride in again using the middle chain ring. Should have discovered it years ago...

cycle (commute) 1:05:50 [3] 29.0 km (2:16 / km)
shoes: Avanti Blade

Blaaahhhh. Headwind...

Have a bruise on my thigh from proving that I can still get the chain to jump off from the middle chain ring. May have to get bike fixed sooner rather than later.

Windtrainer 1:01:00 [3]
shoes: Avanti Blade

5 min warmup
2 min on, 2 off x 7. Decided it was weak and boring (actually missed the beep on my countdown timer), so
4 min on, 2 off x 2

Then a few minutes of spinning at a higher cadence and a couple of one minute efforts with each leg doing 1 leg... I really suck at that.

Not what I wanted to do, but it was the only thing that fitted with the need for a sleep in, a busy afternoon and the school oval being overrun with primary kiddies after school.

Note

After skipping another running session this week and feeling crap about it, I looked back at my log and came to the horrible realisation that my last 2 months running (5:30 and 5:31 for the month) are both bigger than all but 4 months last year (and one of them was only just over 6 hours...)

A few of the small months had races in them that had lots of running, but still... that's pretty awful. No wonder I feel so running-unfit on anything over half an hour...

Note
(rest day)

Unwanted, unplanned rest day. Tired, and a 3:30pm meeting after school made the bike commute highly impractical. Then it rained in the afternoon and I realised that everyone would just assume I am ultra-soft

run (soft sand) 45:20 [3]
shoes: barefoot

Brighton-Triggs and return, south to start of dog exercise area, and back to Brighton. Strangely my knee started to get a bit achey during the day yesterady. Minimal ache today, pretty much went away about 15-20 minutes into run. Feels OK a few hours later...

Won't be making intervals tonight, so switched beach run in the hope I may get intervals done solo on Thursday arvo.

cycle (commute) 1:01:15 [3] 29.0 km (2:07 / km)
shoes: Avanti Blade

Riding in the dark sucks. Tired. Want to go to bed.

cycle (commute) 1:02:45 [3] 29.0 km (2:10 / km)
shoes: Avanti Blade

Stopped by Ocean Key Cycles on the way home to see how bad the bike is. Stretched and worn chain, need to replace front chain ring (all 3 as they're not interchangeable) and the rear cluster. Add in labour and I'm lookng at $220. Still seems like a better option than a new bike.

The short term option to save the money is to stop riding everywhere in the large chain ring and actually use the middle. Rode home just using the middle chain ring and not grinding it quite so much up hill. About the same pace. May even learn to ride better by the time I get my bikr fixed...
