Down the highway to Greenough River walk trail and back to see whether the cranks would fall off again. Turns out I was wrong about my bike last time - it wasn't the left crank that was loose - it was both of them. Grrrrr

Lap of the walk trail. Kept seat high, felt like a total gumby cornering on the gravelly bits but felt pretty strong overall. Probably would have felt like a gumby no matter how I set the bike up. Will have to get a new valve for my drink bladder. Got a very sticky leg from the constant dripping of Gatorade from my pack...

Back didn't stiffen up as much as I expected. Legs ok. Took it pretty easy.

Foot feels worse now than it did 2 weeks ago. Still haven't got orthotics back from podatrist

Finally got out for a 1 hour ride before school. Felt good to do something. Bit stiff in the lower back. Only a light breeze. Really surprised by the pace of the ride. Maybe I'm not quite as unfit as I feared. Will go out for longer on the weekend.

I hate bikes. I never want to ride again... well not quite, but I'm pretty ticked off at the moment. Last night I was pumping up my tyres on the Avanti and the valve stem ripped away from the tube on my front tyre. Took it out, replaced it with my spare, didn't put it in properly and popped it when pumping it back up. 5cm long hole in the side, no chance of patching either, so having spent the previous evening transfering tool kit, bike bottle holder for light batterly, pump etc from my mountain bike to the Avanti, I then had to switch my pedals to the MTB so I could get to school this morning.
That was annoying, but half of it was my fault, so I could get over it. But... half way to school my bike started making funny noises which I soon realised was the chain rubbing on the front changer - on both sides of it... This is the first ride at all that I've had since I got the bike back from having bottom bracket and cranks replaced and the crank is loose again!!! 4th time (but first time on this side). So either my bike is a heap of sh** or they didn't put it back to gether properly or a combination of the two.

In case it isn't obvious from above, I'm very grumpy, although at the same time I realise my issues are hardly life threatening and probably don't come close to how some of the Ausiie boys are feeling after World Champs qualifying over the past week in the Ukraine... missing a final by 4 seconds - now that must really suck.

Added achilles exercise to the set - figure I might as well give it the best chance of recovering possible whilst I'm not running. Toe is still getting sore when I walk too far (ie around the zoo - so not all that far really)

Bit sad when this is the longest session for the week.

Note

Was seriously tired all weekend. Didn't do anything. Briefly contemplated core exercises but couldn't be bothered. Drove bus back to school.

Now seriously unfit and unlikey to run for at least another 2 weeks. Training program has gone out the window, so the plan for now is to try to make it out for 3 x 1hr rides this week, then to slowly build things up again.

No real rush as I'm not really planning to race until June/July next year and I'd prefer to stay in one piece for a while.
