Note

Was planning a ride today, but spent the day shifting grass clippings and tree prunings out to the verge for bulk rubbish collection. Got major hayfever and couldn't breathe properly. Good excuse...

paddle 2:00:00 [2]
shoes: spirit plastic CTR

Generally pretty slow and easy. Paddling with my Dad who is up for the weekend. Threw in a few surges (7 or 8 x 50 double strokes) and a few stops / turnarounds waiting for Dad. Paddled as far is I can get up the Greenough river then back. dad's handmade wooden ocean kayak looks so good. Faster than my tuby cross trainer too - he went with me on the last surge and I couldn't drop him. very demoralised till I had a five minute paddle in i at the end. It was cool. Not race ski fast or anything, but felt so smooth and held a great line.

cycle (commute) 37:00 [3] 15.0 km (2:28 / km)
shoes: Avanti Blade

Not terribly inspired ride into work and then back. Had hoped to get a MTB ride in before work, but didn't leave work until 11pm last night and struggled to get out of bed.

Great day taking 5 netball teams to an interschool carnival - if you like standing around doing bugger all for 6 hours with no food.

Paddle on the river. Went a bit further than normal. Felt pretty crap for first half an hour. Got into a rhythm by the middle of it. Probably slacked off more than I should have in patches. Would have got more out of the session if I made an effort to keep the intensity more constant.

cycle (commute) 37:00 [2] 15.5 mi (2:23 / mi)
shoes: Avanti Blade

Cycle to (20 min - strong headwind, and from - 17 min) work. Really didn't want to get out of bed this morning. Tired.

MTBO race 1:42:00 [4] * 30.0 km (3:24 / km)
spiked:16/17c shoes: Diamondback Vectra Sport

Had trouble reading the map whilst moving at the start. Tooms caught and passed me just after number 1. Was pulling away from me as I felt the lack of a proper warm-up. Fortunately he overshot a couple of tracks and we were together until the single track near 15. Slowed over the last couple as I got tired. Navigationally fine except for taking an unmapped track near 12 which lost a couple of minutes (and 3 places as a consequence).
Probably would have been 10 minutes slower without Tooms to keep me working hard. Good to know I can keep up on the MTB and that riding was still pretty much pain free (unlike walking)

Note

Mission accomplished. Unless I get a quick fix for my leg, the AR will hurt like hell, but shouldn't affect my performance.

7 hour drive home wasn't the ideal post weekend recovery. Oh well.
