RRR Rookies+ with Rhys, Ash and Hayden.
Knee uncomfortable throughout.

Meh.
Legs felt fresh, as you would expect after being lazy for 4 days, but left knee grumpy throughout, behind R ankle sore at start and after cooling down.
Had been planning on entering a 27km trail run in 2 weeks, but might clash with moving house (if we can get in early), so will ne sensible until another 27km run in July. Would have been nice (but expensive in running terms) to go to Great Keppel Island.

run 46:12 intensity: (49 @1) + (44:50 @2) + (33 @3) 8.65 km (5:20 / km)
ahr:126 max:151 shoes: Hoka Clifton 4

Felt pretty flat, forgot orthotics for shoes, left knee and right ankle/achilles not feeling great. Tried a warm up, abandoned all ideas of doing an interval session, switched to the Hokas that I'd worn to school and jogged slow laps with Blase, who was taking it easy after running the half marathon on Sunday.

Legs felt pretty good, surprisingly.

run race (7 Rocky River Run) 40:21 intensity: (18 @1) + (1:26 @2) + (36:34 @3) + (2:03 @4) 10.03 km (4:01 / km)
ahr:153 max:163 shoes: Brooks Adrenaline 20.2

Apart from the 7th kilometre (which did include the 2nd bridge crossing and coming to a dead stop running into a bollard to avoid a collision with an oncoming runner around a corner) this went pretty much to plan. (The plan was to try to get to 5km in 20 minutes and see what happened in the 2nd half).

Time for the last km suggests I could have maybe pushed a bit harder a bit earlier, but didn’t have the confidence in lasting the distance.
Might need to start training more if I want to make any significant improvements from here.

Field was ridiculously spread out. The winner ran about 32 minutes, I was about 3 minutes behind 5th and 2 minutes in front of 7th in a field of about 300. Would have been super lonely from 2.5km onwards if I didn’t have the lead female in the half marathon to gradually chase down, and one more half marathoner who came past with a little over 2km left to keep me homest.

run 38:21 intensity: (17 @1) + (37:54 @2) + (10 @3) 8.0 km (4:48 / km)
ahr:130 max:145 shoes: Brooks Adrenaline 20.2

RRR Thursday run. Ran with company, otherwise probably wouldn’t have made it out the door.

run warm up/down 7:56 intensity: (19 @1) + (2:38 @2) + (4:09 @3) + (50 @4) 1.33 km (5:57 / km)
ahr:145 max:173 shoes: x-talon 230

Slow WU before stopping watch to get the 1km auto-lap turned off.

run 52:16 intensity: (27 @1) + (18:32 @2) + (29:59 @3) + (3:18 @4) 11.34 km (4:37 / km)
ahr:144 max:165 shoes: x-talon 230

5x1600m @ 5km pace with 3 min recoveries (v. slow jog/bit of walk).

Gradually got a bit quicker. Felt good. Nice to have Rhys keeping me honest running in lane 2 the whole time.

Track wasn’t soggy for a change.

run 1:34:02 intensity: (20 @1) + (1:00:17 @2) + (33:14 @3) + (11 @4) 18.55 km (5:04 / km) +52m 5:00 / km
ahr:136 max:162 shoes: Brooks Adrenaline 20

Went for a run down a bit of the ‘Old Bruce hwy’ wondering if it was really no through road for foot traffic. Could probably get through if I was prepared to tackle a bit of long grass and if ore a few signs, but the reward is just getting stuck alongside the current highway, so didn’t seem worth it.
Followed that by taking the wrong road back towards town, but it went in a very similar direction.
The old highway would have been horrific for cyclists- 2 slabs of concrete wide, absolutely no shoulder and looks like it would have been underwater semi-regularly.

run 34:53 intensity: (32 @1) + (33:28 @2) + (46 @3) + (7 @4) 6.72 km (5:11 / km) +41m 5:02 / km
ahr:123 max:165 shoes: Brooks Adrenaline 20.2

Kept things shorter than originally planned as a few bits were a bit tight and sore following Tuesday’s silliness.
Left knee was quite sore today - quads were probably tighter than normal, much like groin etc etc

6 PM

run 42:51 intensity: (32 @1) + (21:36 @2) + (20:27 @3) + (16 @4) 8.12 km (5:17 / km) +25m 5:12 / km
ahr:139 max:163 shoes: Brooks Adrenaline 20

Very modified session as the track was soggy from a localised storm and the only other bit of campus with lights is a 300 ish strip of bike path (not very even bitumen).

So… 12 x 300m with 30-40ish sec recoveries at a pace of approximately as fast as I could be bothered. Pretty darn hard by the end, trying to chase a couple of guys that are comfortably faster than me at the moment.

One way uphill explains the irregular times.

run intervals 1:21:51 intensity: (1:36 @1) + (23:44 @2) + (55:47 @3) + (44 @4) 15.88 km (5:09 / km) +40m 5:05 / km
ahr:140 max:164 shoes: Brooks Adrenaline 20

One day I will learn that getting up in the morning is a better option than running in the heat.
10x 2:2 fartlek without any real target for the efforts, which is probably good because they were pretty slow. First 5 into the wind.

ahr:122 max:163 shoes: Brooks Adrenaline 20

Wheezy. Slow. Lethargic. Left knee still a bit sore.

Rockhampton street lighting is crap. Needed the phone torch for bits of it.

Given how I felt, not really regretting having not run for the last 4 or 5 days.

Note

Probably have been healthy enough to run since Thursday after being sick enough over the weekend that I needed Tuesday off work.
Feeling flat and disinterested though, so haven’t done anything.
