Weights 50:00 [3]

Couldn’t face real exercise this afternoon, but had to put some gps watches back in the school gym and ‘got distracted.’

I have no strength or muscle endurance any more. Gonna be sore tomorrow.

Orienteering 1:44:03 intensity: (5:30 @1) + (1:31:23 @2) + (6:56 @3) + (14 @4) 13.84 km (7:31 / km) +56m 7:22 / km
ahr:127 max:171 shoes: roclite 285

Drew the map off aerials while sitting in Perth in 2013 (I think- it might have been mid-2014). Been used by other people for lessons ever since. First actual fieldcheck - today.
Felt pretty reasonable given I was sick all weekend.

MTB 9:21 intensity: (3:35 @1) + (5:40 @2) + (6 @3) 1.89 km (4:57 / km)
ahr:112 max:132 shoes: Diamondback Vectra Sport

A super slow lap of the school bikeathon course to see how long it was.

Staff vs Student basketball.

Good fun, and I didn't suck as much as I expected, but I did hit the deck once and my upper back was a bit sore in the usual spot afterwards. Got progressively worse throughout the evening and wasn't responding to nurofen.

May make paddling and swimming this weekend challenging.

Zwift 1:15:00 [3] 40.0 km (1:53 / km)
shoes: Avanti Blade

15 minute warm up before joining Aussie Hump Day ride, which turned out to be 2x20 laps at an intensity slightly lower than what my warm up had been, followed by a 3rd lap flat out. Felt like I was wasting my time until the 3rd lap, but that was enough to kill me.

run (Suburbrun ) 30:07 intensity: (14:29 @2) + (15:38 @3) 6.56 km (4:35 / km)
ahr:139 max:148 shoes: Saucony Freedom ISO

Fun little loop around part of the Suburbrun course to make sure I knew how to make it work for my schoolkids next week. Was more fun than just jogging, so will probably do it again next week.

8 AM

run warm up/down 8:00 [2] 1.5 km (5:20 / km)
shoes: x-talon 230

It was cold. Did a warm up. Then stood around for 19 minutes before starting.
9 AM

run race 33:50 [5] 8.0 km (4:14 / km)
shoes: x-talon 230

Harriers first ‘championship ‘ race. Probably the dodgiest course of every season in terms of course marking. (Course is a very twisty one around a golf course) I was the only one of the top 4 who made it around the first lap without taking a wrong turn, then I got it wrong twice on the second lap (as did everyone else) where I’m sure a couple of flags had been removed.
I was the only one that actually corrected and finished the course properly, so will be curious to see what the results say. We were all spread out enough by the end that there really isn’t any argument over who ran fastest. Kinda hope they leave me 4th.
Forgot my watch today and it was probably a good thing as I could ignore my pace. Pretty happy with the time given my current lack of fitness.

Zwift 1:02:00 [3] 33.0 km (1:53 / km)
shoes: Avanti Blade

Zwift fail. Did a warm up, got transferred to the start of a Tour of Watopia stage as expected, connection dropout as the stage started. Re-booted and got the ‘do you want to re-join your interrupted session’ message. Hit ‘Yes’ and got sent back to London, where I had been warming up. Went fairly hard up Box Hill and was searching for motivation for the 2nd half of the ride when my i-pad went flat despite being plugged in.
Resorted to watching my footy team lose on my phone.
Won’t use the i-pad for Zwift again - wireless connection is so much worse than on my laptop :(
4 PM

paddle 43:10 intensity: (1:53 @2) + (36:13 @3) + (4:36 @4) + (28 @5) 6.07 km (7:06 / km)
ahr:153 max:219 shoes: Spirit PRS plastic

A paddle. Coz apparently Augusta has a paddle leg. Just a little one on the river to start.

Friday May 17, 2019 #

Unspecified 20:00 [3]
shoes: Saucony Freedom ISO

Playing centre in staff vs student netball. Students won again. Basketball will be much worse!

Tuesday May 14, 2019 #

5 PM

run 38:50 intensity: (32 @1) + (2:12 @2) + (36:06 @3) 8.12 km (4:47 / km)
ahr:149 max:159 shoes: Saucony Freedom ISO

Felt pretty good other than sore calves. Glad l did something.

Sunday May 12, 2019 #

swim 25:00 [3] 1.0 km (25:00 / km)

First swim in a long time. Wetsuit was fine, goggles were not, and I veer right very badly. Also forgot to start watch. Had periodic breaststroke breaks and plenty of moments where I looked up and wasn’t facing the direction I thought I was.

Could have been worse as a starting point. I can almost imagine swimming twice as far.

Saturday May 11, 2019 #

Zwift 1:00:00 [3] 35.0 km (1:43 / km)
shoes: Avanti Blade

W/U, 40 minutes of solid effort, CD.

Felt much harder than it should have for the power output.

Tuesday May 7, 2019 #

2 PM

run 11:02 intensity: (13 @1) + (1:12 @2) + (9:29 @3) + (8 @4) 2.6 km (4:15 / km) +11m 4:10 / km
ahr:144 max:165 shoes: Saucony Freedom ISO

School cross country with Year 11 and 12 students. Mostly quite a slow single track course along the river, with start and finish on the oval.

Started way too hard to try to drop everyone. Got rid of all but one student, but he sat on me till the last 100m, then went straight past. Given how much I had slowed up by then, that was to be expected.

Sunday May 5, 2019 #

run 41:25 intensity: (51 @1) + (21:16 @2) + (19:18 @3) 8.17 km (5:04 / km) +15m 5:01 / km
ahr:137 max:150 shoes: Saucony Freedom ISO

Afternoon jog along the coast. Not feeling very sparky.

Saturday May 4, 2019 #

5 PM

run 37:35 intensity: (19 @1) + (11:36 @2) + (25:40 @3) 6.96 km (5:24 / km) +14m 5:21 / km
ahr:141 max:156 shoes: roclite 285

Round the river mtb track.

After running at Easter, I was feeling motivated to get fit again. I was also super happy to see sprint and long champs sharing a weekend. Then I found out I have a work commitment that weekend and I cried.

Then I got the all clear from my cardiologist to go do whatever I want and thought I really needed a target to train for but was struggling to get excited about the prep required for an ultramarathon. And then along comes Augusta Adventurefest.

So now I need to swim, paddle, ride and run. There’s no real pressure, as my only aim will be to finish, but even that might take a bit of work...
