9 AM

run 1:29:07 intensity: (26 @1) + (6:25 @2) + (1:11:33 @3) + (10:43 @4) 18.05 km (4:56 / km) +72m 4:50 / km
ahr:152 max:173 shoes: Saucony Triumph Iso2

Long run for the week. Left this late enough after a sleep in to end up with sunburnt shoulders.
didn't feel very sparky at any point. A bit flat at the start and it never really changed. That said, surprised by the time on my watch when I finished.

Note

Biggest running month since May 2015. Hmmm. That didn't take much.
6 AM

run 48:01 intensity: (16 @1) + (9:58 @2) + (37:15 @3) + (32 @4) 10.09 km (4:46 / km) +62m 4:37 / km
ahr:145 max:172 shoes: Saucony Triumph Iso2

Pretty happy with this one. Felt comfortable, surprised by the speed when I checked after finishing. Yay.

Little morning cruise with a few surges thrown in at the end.

Went for a jog while the girls did dance.

Funny sort of an afternoon. Legs felt a bit off and felt a bit lethargic right at the start, so just had in mind to get it done. This mindset seems to have led to me pushing a little harder than my recent cruisy efforts, but felt pretty good once I got a couple of km under my belt, so just kept in going.

Still felt good at the end. Obviously not slow run pace, but also now confident that I could actually run fairly hard for long enough to make it worthwhile when I add some speedier sessions soon, so happy. I wonder if there is a correlation between training and fitness?

run 52:51 intensity: (50 @1) + (11:38 @2) + (40:23 @3) 10.19 km (5:11 / km) +11m 5:10 / km
ahr:144 max:160 shoes: Saucony Triumph Iso2

10km blob to round out the week. Not quite as slow as it looked - stopped for a minute or so to dive an old lady directions.

Not too hot, but very humid. Fortunately had a gentle headwind for the return journey which helped keep me a bit cooler.

Haven't quite hit my training targets for the last couple of weeks, but have managed 13/15 planned runs over the last 3, which is probably the best 3 weeks I've had in a couple of years. I also feel like I should be able to keep running through the last 3 weeks of term without too much trouble, especially with Easter weekend in there. Follow that with 2 weeks of school holidays, and I might actually start feeling a bit fitter again :)

Saturday Mar 24, 2018 #

7 AM

run 1:32:04 intensity: (59 @1) + (15:41 @2) + (59:52 @3) + (15:32 @4) 18.07 km (5:06 / km) +76m 4:59 / km
ahr:149 max:168 shoes: Saucony Triumph Iso2

Morning long run. Didn't start till 7:45, thinking the weather wouldn't be too bad today, but it was 28 when I started and 32 by the time I finished.

Felt pretty comfortable for the first hour, but the last 20 minutes felt like really hard work.

Friday Mar 23, 2018 #

Note

Slept through my alarm on Thursday morning and was still shattered in the evening. Had planned to head out Friday arvo, but was still feeling tired and decided to drop the planned session in the hope that I will actually run in the mornings over the weekend and not destroy my whole weekend by having to eat at stupid times. Also forecast to be hot again!

Thursday Mar 22, 2018 #

Note

Failed again to get up in the morning, so much so that when P got up, did her walk and other assorted morning activities, then turned the radio on, I thought she had just turned it on as soon as her alarm went off.

Plans to run in the evening disappeared as the day wore on. Still shattered from work and not entirely convinced that delaying this run til Friday morning will result in anything different to the last few mornings.

Wednesday Mar 21, 2018 #

6 PM

run 30:11 intensity: (15 @1) + (6:13 @2) + (23:43 @3) 6.19 km (4:53 / km) +6m 4:51 / km
ahr:142 max:155 shoes: Saucony Triumph Iso2

A bit earlier than last night. Still had some daylight to play with. Right calf a bit tight still.

Tuesday Mar 20, 2018 #

7 PM

run 39:28 intensity: (25 @1) + (4:02 @2) + (34:09 @3) + (52 @4) 8.23 km (4:48 / km) +33m 4:42 / km
ahr:148 max:165 shoes: Saucony Triumph Iso2

Decided I didn't need to get up this morning because I'd have some dead time with girls at dance in the arvo, but it was still 37 degrees at that point in the afternoon, so I left it later still. Felt OK. Right calf not quite right for some reason.

Sunday Mar 18, 2018 #

7 PM

run 1:20:31 intensity: (14:00 @2) + (1:05:56 @3) + (35 @4) 16.37 km (4:55 / km) +74m 4:49 / km
ahr:145 max:164 shoes: Saucony Triumph Iso2

Evening jog. Should have done this earlier, but this run's timing was essentially sealed by leaving yesterday's until the afternoon. It had, at least, cooled down nicely, which compensated for the darkness. Still feeling OK at the end, which is promising.

Saturday Mar 17, 2018 #

4 PM

run 52:01 intensity: (15 @1) + (6:34 @2) + (42:14 @3) + (2:58 @4) 10.18 km (5:07 / km) +10m 5:05 / km
ahr:148 max:165 shoes: Saucony Triumph Iso2

Easy afternoon jog along the path next to the river, past the gauging station for the first time in ages. Unsurprisingly, it read a resounding '0'.

Friday Mar 16, 2018 #

6 AM

run 39:02 intensity: (23 @1) + (13:08 @2) + (24:20 @3) + (1:11 @4) 8.17 km (4:47 / km) +11m 4:45 / km
ahr:141 max:178 shoes: Saucony Triumph Iso2

What a difference a cool morning makes. This was actually really enjoyable.

Wednesday Mar 14, 2018 #

6 AM

run 30:33 intensity: (30 @1) + (20:56 @2) + (9:07 @3) 6.02 km (5:05 / km) +7m 5:03 / km
ahr:134 max:149 shoes: Saucony Triumph Iso2

A little cooler this morning and felt pretty comfortable throughout for a change.
Primary swim carnival today just to make sure I don't feel too rested.
At least it was only about 35 degrees today, as opposted to the 40+ of the last 3 days.

Monday Mar 12, 2018 #

Note
(rest day)

Swim Carnival in Perth. Left lunchtime Sunday, got back 9pm Monday night. Pretty uncomfortable night trying to sleep in a very warm gym.

Excitement for the drive home included students spewing up and hitting a kangaroo in the school bus (no damage to the bus, but the amount of blood on the front of the bus suggested the roo didn't fare too well)

Sunday Mar 11, 2018 #

7 AM

run 1:15:35 intensity: (56 @1) + (11:06 @2) + (57:13 @3) + (6:20 @4) 14.2 km (5:19 / km) +70m 5:12 / km
ahr:147 max:168 shoes: Saucony Triumph Iso2

Thought I was much smarte rthan Monday, getting a long run done in the morning, but didn't start till 7:30am, and had 50km/h easterlies to contend with, and the temp rose from 26 to 30 while I was running, so I was still cooked by the end and struggled to run up the sand track back into Strath.

Saturday Mar 10, 2018 #

5 PM

run 30:21 intensity: (25 @1) + (2:51 @2) + (20:31 @3) + (6:34 @4) 6.29 km (4:50 / km) +7m 4:48 / km
ahr:151 max:167 shoes: Saucony Freedom ISO

Nothing like Monday, but still on the unpleasant side for the bits where there was no shade, so happy this was just short.

Tempting to go longer, but that is the plan for tomorrow and I need to resist the urge to do too much too soon, given the lack of training over the last month. Also having another hitout in my 'new' shoes, so good to give the calves some shorter runs to get used to them. Still really like them, but I don't think they're great for ankles on uneven ground (probably would be if I didn't have orthotics in though).

Thursday Mar 8, 2018 #

6 AM

run 40:41 intensity: (27 @1) + (22:34 @2) + (17:40 @3) 8.2 km (4:58 / km) +10m 4:56 / km
ahr:139 max:158 shoes: Saucony Triumph Iso2

Oh the difference a couple of days can make. Lovely cool morning, felt pretty relaxed and comfortable throughout.

Tuesday Mar 6, 2018 #

6 AM

run 31:16 intensity: (46 @1) + (11:43 @2) + (18:47 @3) 6.08 km (5:08 / km) +6m 5:07 / km
ahr:138 max:156 shoes: Saucony Triumph Iso2

And... just because I didn't kill myself enough last night, I headed out again in the morning. Bit of a struggle. Still warm and humid. Lots of spots feeling unusually tight.

Monday Mar 5, 2018 #

5 PM

run 1:08:16 intensity: (27 @1) + (6:52 @2) + (28:58 @3) + (31:59 @4) 12.22 km (5:35 / km) +21m 5:32 / km
ahr:157 max:180 shoes: Saucony Triumph Iso2

Still pretty hot as I headed out for my longest run in a few weeks. Being the idiot that I sometimes am, I decided to run on sandy tracks with minimal shade and as far from the coast as possible, just to make sure there would be no chance of a sea breeze.

Consequentially, I baked myself, and despite my legs feeling good (even the DOMS from gardening that I used as an excuse not to run yesterday went from excruciating at the start to barely noticeable by the end) coming home was a real struggle. At least I was smart enough to take some wate with me.

Thursday Mar 1, 2018 #

6 AM

run 30:15 intensity: (9 @1) + (6:08 @2) + (23:58 @3) 6.18 km (4:54 / km) +5m 4:53 / km
ahr:146 max:160 shoes: Saucony Triumph Iso2

Easy morning jog. I should do this running thing more often.
