Windtrainer 35:00 intensity: (25:00 @1) + (10:00 @5)
shoes: Avanti Blade

Got pretty desperate for exercise today.

5 x 2:2 in the shed. Too hot, not enough airflow, nearly died.

Fitness is a long distant memory.

Windtrainer 10:00 [1]
shoes: Avanti Blade

Warm up for next bit. Never got out of a very low gear and still felt like hard work.
5 PM

run 4:00 [1] 0.8 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Saucony Mirage 3.3

After the windtrainer and a solid calf stretch, I headed across the road and tried to run a few laps of the cricket oval. The first one hurt the achilles quite a bit, the second one was a little better, but by the time I finished that, I was worried about my undigested, oversized lunch causing an allergic reaction so I stopped.

Reinforced that I need to ice my achilles after every bit of rehab if I actually want things to settle down enough to exercise.

My two short term options seem to be cyclist or couch potato. It's going to be a tough decision.

Note

So, I've looked at a calendar of next year and it seems I was given some misinformation regarding when my mid-year non-teaching week was, meaning that effectively the World Rogaining Champs is on the last weekend of my mid-year break.

Interesting. Am I that masochistic? Would anyone take a punt on me as a partner? Thinking time.

Note
(injured)

For the second time in a fortnight, I was sitting down, leaned forward to pick something off the ground and something in my lower back went ping.
Good thing I am already booked to see the physio on Thursday.

Note

Finally succumbed to family pressure and bought two short little sit on top paddlecraft. One of them is a little junior thing with a 60kg capacity. And they mean it. I tried to use it, but the back sinks, the nose pops in the air and over it tips. Good fun to muck around on the other one in near shore though.

Unspecified (cricket) 20:00 [3]

Walked across the road to see if any of the school kids that had enquired about cricket made it as far as training. Got there after most of the juniors had left, (but did find out that one year 11 girl from school plays) so never really found out, but after floating around for a while, someone threw me a ball and I was too stupid to say no, so had a trundle for a while. Rhythm wasn't great, but I haven't played for 8 years or so, so not entirely unexpected. Also the run-up is a bit uneven, which doesn't help. Probably could avoid it bowling round the wicket, but didn't want to.
Expect to be pretty sore tomorrow. Given that my upper back is only about 95% recovered from two weeks ago, (and I'm not really meant ot be running either) it was probably exptremely stupid, but it was enjoyable.

MTB 30:00 [3] 9.0 km (3:20 / km)
shoes: Diamondback Vectra Sport

Roll down the Munda Biddi, south from Donnelly River village. didn't have very long, and wasn't going very fast, but given how bad my back has been for the last week or so, it was goof to just roll along pretty much pain free. Hardly training, but the closest I've been for a while. Achilles is still pretty ordinary :(
