cycle (commute) 30:00 [3] 12.0 km (2:30 / km)
shoes: Avanti Blade

To the beach in the morning and home from school. Doesn't really deserve to be logged, but I've got nothing better to do :(

Thursday Nov 29, 2007 #

swim 50:00 [3] 2.5 km (20:00 / km)

500m warm-up (9:50)
200m hard (3:22)
300m blob
2 x 500m slow (9:55 each)
500m cooldown

Fair bit quicker than previous sessions without really trying. Must be turning into a swimmer or something...

cycle 14:25 [3] 8.0 km (1:48 / km)
shoes: Avanti Blade

Very lazy this morning. Alarm went off and I went back to sleep. Must remember that even when I was in the habit of getting up most mornings I still felt rubbish for the first 5 minutes, but the training was still good...

Oh well. Just rode straight to work.

cycle (commute) 18:45 [3] 8.2 km (2:17 / km)
shoes: Avanti Blade

home into the wind. felt pretty good.

Sunday Nov 25, 2007 #

run 54:00 [1] 9.0 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: Reebok Premier Road Plus

Took Dad out for a run so I had an excuse to keep it short and easy. Pace was real cruisy, but timewise a lot longer than I had planned. Foot the best it has been for ages.

Thursday Nov 22, 2007 #

swim 45:00 [3] 2.2 km (20:27 / km)

Back into the pool to continue my metamorphosis into a (poor imitation of a) triathlete.

4 x 500m (all 10 - 10:15) with about 2 min break between then 200m cruisy cooldown.

Felt pretty easy for most of it, but any time I put more effort in my stroke gets even worse than normal and I don't really speed up. Significantly I feel like rubbish for about the first 300m (about how long I used to swim for before I gave up) before warming up and feeling better.

cycle 47:00 [4] 27.6 km (1:42 / km)
shoes: Diamondback Vectra Sport

The kids camp finished in Walkaway and I was frustrated by the time we dribbled in there and rode back to school instead of getting on the bus. Great to belt along with a healthy tailwind, even if it was on the MTB on bitumen.

cycle 3:00:00 [0] 23.0 km (7:50 / km)
shoes: Diamondback Vectra Sport

All on sealed roads. More hills than yesterda, hence even slower. Rode a few of them multiple times so I didn't have to sit around and wait quite as much

Monday Nov 19, 2007 #

MTB 3:00:00 [0] 26.0 km (6:55 / km)
shoes: Diamondback Vectra Sport

Year 10 Outdoor Ed camp. Painfully slow and lots of stopping, kids walking up 'hills' etc All on boring wide gravel roads.

MTB 40:00 [0] 10.0 km (4:00 / km)
shoes: Diamondback Vectra Sport

Took a few of the kiddies for a night ride. Marginally less boring than day's effort.

Friday Nov 16, 2007 #

cycle (commute) 37:00 [3] 16.0 km (2:19 / km)
shoes: Avanti Blade

Commute both ways.

Easy roll in and then slog home into the wind. New front tyre felt good. Also nice to have adjusted derailleur so that gears work properly and have lubed chain. Felt good to do something (minor) for the first time in a week. Almost feeling healthy again.

Note
(sick)

Had thought I was getting better yesterday - I ate a little breakfast and made it to work, then came hom for lnch, then foolishly decided I was nearly recovered and had a salmonella roll (kebab) and some chocolate cake for lunch. Felt crap all afternoon and the diarrhoea kicked in seriously around 6pm. Spent more time on the dunny than in bed last night. took a sicky again today. It's 2:45pm and I've ust had my first sip of water since about 5am and haven't eaten at all.
Feel great...

Note
weight:71.5kg (sick)

Was a bit disappointed with the prospect this weekend of bing home alone with the kiddies and hence unable to train... then they got gastro on Thursday afternoon, so didn't sleep much that night and stayed home to look after them on Friday.
The bug got me about lunchtime Saturday and the rest of the day was pretty messy. When the smell of your diarrhoea sets you off spewing... well you get the picture.

Pretty easy way to lose weigh thtough... there's a bunch of people at work trying to lose weight and I lost 5kg in around 12 hours...

May have to take it a bit easy this week

MTB (chapman river loop) 45:00 [3]
shoes: Diamondback Vectra Sport

Never got into it this morning. Rode the loop in reverse. Wish I hadn't. Felt unfamiliar and very stop start. Having issues with gears so pretty much rolled the easy bits so I didn't hit anything tough 3 gears higher than I wanted. Felt slow lethargic and hungry. Was meant to do 2 loops but bailed after the first one.

Guess it might take a little while to get used to training regularly again, even without anything terribly long.

Note

Tried to fix my 2 punctured road tubes last night. Patches were too big for the tube (bigger than the tube when flat and empty and I couldn't get them to stick properly. Both still going flat. Won't be any training for me on the weekend anyway, so at least it won't cause much of a disruption.

Wednesday Nov 7, 2007 #

swim 35:00 [3] 1.5 km (23:20 / km)

300m warm-up. Took to the 200m mark to stop feeling like I was about to die.
10 x 100m on 2:30 (reps all 1:48ish except #1 - 1:40 and #9 - 1:52)
200m bludge cool-down

Was intending to do a bit more, but cruising the cool-down I could hardly finish 100m free my arms were so stuffed. Guess it's no surprise after swimming 3 times in a week for the first time in my life.

cycle (commute) 17:30 [3] 8.0 km (2:11 / km)
shoes: Avanti Blade

To school via the pool. Was a slow leak, not vandalism.

Pick up new car this arvo. May never ride again...

Tuesday Nov 6, 2007 #

cycle (440 loop) 51:00 [3] 27.0 km (1:53 / km)
shoes: Avanti Blade

Decided I could squeeze in a bit extra on the way to school despite sleeping in...

cycle (commute) 23:00 [2] 8.2 km (2:48 / km)
shoes: Avanti Blade

Either I picked up a slow pncture this morning or a kid let my tyre down. Almost crashed when I rolled out of school down the kerb. Pumped the tyre up enough to get home then rolled slowly home into the southerly. Very careful aound corners. Pumped it up properly this evening. Time will tell whether it was a puncture or a student... Doesn't help having the only thing resembling a road bike in the whole bike enclosure and I probably scared a few kiddies this morning turning up to school in bike knicks.

cycle (commute) 37:00 [3] 16.0 km (2:19 / km)
shoes: Avanti Blade

Ride into work and home via the pool. Pretty cruisy both ways except for an 800m stertch where I tucked in behind a scooter (same bit of road in both directions). Wind much more friendly today.

swim 55:00 [3] 2.5 km (22:00 / km)

My job has eased down to the point that I feel guilt being paid for full time. Timetable was cruisy enough all year, and now that the 12's have left and I basically have no sport coordination to do, I am left teaching 17 45 minute periods a week (out of 35). Planning is all done, lessons are running themselves and all I will have to worry about in the next month is report writing.

Anyways - because of situation above, was at the pool by 12 midday for the swim I was too lazt to get out of bed for this morning. As for swimming - I am a machine... (not) nothing like easing into things, with the longest swimming session I have ever done in my life. Had no cash so had to buy a 10 entry multipass so I could use EFTPOS so now I have to keep coming back.

Went straight into a 2km swim. Wish I had split each 500m. First 500m was slow, then I thought a bit about my technique and figured if people can kick laps faster tha I can swim them, it's not just because I have the upper body strength of a 5 year old girl - I must kick like one too, so tried to focus on keeping legs loose and kicking a bit harder. certainly took a little load off the arms. I think the next two 500's were about 10 min flat and faded a bit in the last one to about a 10:40. Total time 41:35.

Finished with 500m super cruisy laternating 25m free, 25 breaststroke., then went and walked a few laps and stretched. Hooray for me. Almost felt like a real training session.

run (yuk) 25:04 [3] 5.0 km (5:01 / km)
shoes: Reebok Premier Road Plus

Distance approx. Will check it later.

Running in the afternoon heat, starting with a nice dose of hayfever from mowing the lawn. Felt awful the whole way. Felt foot from about 100m in, disappeared for a while, came back more noticeably for the last 5-6 minutes. Crap. Have to think about a plan of attack here...

Just over half on the beach.

Have pulled up ok from the swim. Neck a bit sore, but other than a little arm tiredness, not much to report

cycle (commute) 40:00 [3] 15.0 km (2:40 / km)
shoes: Diamondback Vectra Sport

Morning and afternoon commutes. Time approx. Afternoon headwind evil.

swim 40:00 [3] 1.5 km (26:40 / km)

is it possible... has he gone mad... what is theat weird new colour in his training log???

Penny going swimming 3 times in a week and the fact that anaconda is on this weekend got me thinking that if I'm gonna do a few events like the off road tri and anaconda next year, I will actually need to be able to swim.

300m warm-up
4 x 50m on 1 min (46-58)
5 x 100m on 3 min (1:48-1:55)
500m easy (11:10)

was intending to do 10 x 50 but after barely scraping under a minute on the 4th one, I had to re-assess. Found a bit more rhythm on the hundreds, but will need some technique work to get even slightly competitive.

gonna be sore tomorrow.

Morning and afternoon commute. Horrible afternoon wind.
