Very slow jog down to parkrun followed by a tempo-ish effort that happened to be about 40 sec faster than my PB on this course. Felt much easier than the last couple of these that I’ve tried in, despite high humidity. Must be getting fitter or something.
Strangely, had a good ole allergic reaction immediately on finishing, with some big lumps on my face. Bit strange given that I hadn’t eaten anything since dinner last night. Will need to monitor.
Because of that, just walked home with an itchy head.

Another new (for me) with the RRR. Triangle roads loop or something like that. I did the 3km extension which probably ruins the triangle. Felt cruisy except when a few guys decided to accelerate up a couple of rolling hills. Calves were a tiny bit grumpy by the end, so hopefully will settle quickly.

Note

Was meant to ride, but spent a couple of hours in 38 degree heat trying to remove the bolt of doom from the back of my car. Had to settle for cutting the head off it with a blunt hacksaw blade.

Will stick to my plans for an easy week next week after doing my 2 longest recent runs with only one day off between them. My knees were complaining a bit on Saturday afternoon.

Fun little jog around an approximation of a Suburbrun loop, starting and finishing from home. Only issue was right near the end, where one road on the map is a small path through the middle of a private school.
Light drizzle made the temperature nicer than normal, but didn’t help the inkjet printed paper map :)

First 10km run in quite a while.
Generally felt pretty good. Certainly could have kept going except for the need to get ready for work.
Left knee slightly achey at the start, mild panic about 60% of the way round, when I wasn’t sure how far from home I was or the best way to get there, but a quick google and it all worked out pretty well.

Felt less terrible than expected once I made it out the door.

2x3km laps of a flat course around Kershaw gardens.
Was aiming to hold 4:15/km, but as always started too fast . When the second km was the same pace as the first, it just became a case of hold on as well as possible and see what happens.
Always nice to run better than expected.
HR data very strange today.

Another RRR loop except that I missed a turn and added some extra distance on at the end too.
Felt quite good pushing a little harder in the middle without feeling like I was killing myself.

Have the chance to ‘race’ 6km on Sunday. That will probably be quite depressing, but likely to have a crack anyway.

Yesterday’s planned run on the Zamia trail. A few more cobwebs than I would have preferred, and the breeze was a bit lost in the valley, but still quite enjoyable, even if it was quite slow.
Felt harder than HR suggests, probably not helped by the hard ride last night.

Tour de Zwift group ride, C division. Had a few people around to draft off for most of it. Hardest I’ve worked on a bike for a long time.

Followed some guys on an extension of the club run. It was a slightly longer extension than I realised. Stopped and walked for a bit with a young bloke that also ran the extension but blew up and turned around early.

Couldn’t be bothered waiting till 5:30 to run the same boring loop with RRR, so headed to the carpark for the MTB trails and headed out from there. Tried to stick to the Zamia walking trail, which apparently doesn’t start where I did. Took a wrong turn up a fire trail between two MTB tracks that just stopped suddenly.
Sooooo good to run on trails though. Will definitely be back. Could be exploring for quite a while.
Rolled my left ankle to even things up.
