Orienteering race 20:21 [3] 2.2 mi (9:15 / mi)

Multilevel shenanigans at night around ICL. Could make much sense of the levels so just decided every time a level change was plausible, it would be required. This metaorienteering approach worked OK, but still beaten into 3rd by Philip Eeles and the mapper.

Running warm up/down 35:00 [1] 2.0 mi (17:30 / mi)

Around ICL, then some with-bag jogging between Turnham Green and John Qs at East Sheen.

Running 59:00 [3] 7.0 mi (8:26 / mi)

Back in the tired swing of things in "warm as Spain without the rain" Edinburgh. Monday run, finishing down the Glen Road.

Orienteering 40:00 [2] 3.0 mi (13:20 / mi)

Control collection. Had a look at the one I missed, a small gap between crags blocked by a bush got offline, then was within sight of the control, but looked the wrong way. Generally got to understand how the mapper was doing it - grey as default, including bare rock and open stuff, and "crags" that aren't vertical. Cliffs used sparingly, very vertical, not necessarily high, often providing shelter for some bushy stuff.

Anyway, great weekend, can recommend Spain for O an y time. Need to get back and get it right.

Orienteering 50:33 [3] 3.8 mi (13:18 / mi)

M40 middle. Better today, 2nd by 10, then self destructed again with another 10 min error in an area with massive rocks and cliffs.

Orienteering race 1:31:38 [3] 5.8 mi (15:48 / mi)

M50 Trofeo Avila. "Al Este no Hay Eden". I should have read the map name!
All started well, leading at 2, then made a huge parallel error. standing on the rocky hillside having no clue where I was, and confused about why the decent-sized rocks weren't marked (turned out they were). Milled, went out to misrelocated 3 times and repeat -17mins. Then a long leg going out to the eastern vagueness, and a hillside where for the first time in years I had no understanding of the map - yellow, greys and greens with black dots. Milled around, went out the the track three times to try again. Nothing. Eventually after a 20min faff, saw some people coming out from behind a bush, and there it was. OK after that, (got them all first or second time!) , combination of it getting a bit easier and better understanding of the map and terrain.

Phew. Some experience.
