Orienteering race 1:03:30 [4] 9.5 mi (6:41 / mi)

BOC Winterfold.
Not really up for this - a race too far. trundled round the first 3/4 without incident, then tried to push on a bir in the last section with some success. Pleased and surprised to come 4th behind Clive 5826, Quentin and TimTett.
Once upon a time the strategy for long races was to start hauling through in the second hour. New strategy required.
Lovely running by and large, and great planning by Matt Mahr and Phil Marsland to give a challenging long leg which I stuffed up (most of the margin to Clive).

Craigmillar. Tried a bit of off-path running, turned and ankle and got brought down by some barbed wire. Still feeling flat & not looking forward to the w/e.

Orienteering race 1:21:38 [3] 8.1 mi (10:05 / mi)

Linn of Tummel. SOL3
There's a lot of races to be done around now, and with a dicky ankle racing over rocks wasn't high on the agenda. Trotted round without any serious errors, which I thought might be enough to do well. Nope - got a good thumping from Chris Galloway on 68, his dad, old Uncle Tom Cobbleigh and all.

Still, it's a beautiful area and a splendid way to spend an afternoon, and one week before BOC a salient reminder that you're meant to run in this sport!

Running warm up/down 35:00 [1] 3.0 mi (11:40 / mi)

Long trot to start and finish, plus pre-O
