Creek St area, with trailsnail. Started out, after a short warmpup, by running 1 minute pretty hard, then 1 minute of walking. After a bit more than a mile, we changed to 3 minutes easy running / 1 minute walking.

Run/walk (With Hanna) 19:42 [3] 1.85 mi (10:39 / mi) +2ft 10:39 / mi
shoes: Hoka Clifton 4

Run/walk, first one in a while, because it seemed that running was giving me lower back problems. Thus, I'm out of whatever shape I was in, so this was very short, with a higher percentage of walking than I usually do. That was fine for Hanna though. She was enthusiastic at the beginning, but she was dogging it near the end.

Biking 46:57 [3] 10.06 mi (4:40 / mi) +168ft 4:36 / mi
shoes: Dave Scott Ironman Centurian (

Sunny, not too windy, not too cool (around 60), so I decided to try an outdoor bike ride. Very slightly overdressed with tights on the bottom (over biking shorts), and a long pull over sleeve shirt on top with a short sleeve neon yellow shirt (for visibility) over that. Not sure what is harder work, a real bike or a stationary bike in the cycling classes. I'm pretty beat at the end of either, but it's a somewhat different type of fatigue for some reason.

Tried playing pickleball at the Bayview Y. Way too many people! I did play 2 games, with about a 15 minute wait between the games, but at that point there were about 18 people waiting, for the 3 courts (so 12 people playing), meaning a lot more waiting time than playing time. Fortunately, I had known that was a possibility (having lots of pickleball players), so I had brought my running stuff, and I went for a run. Not a particularly exciting route, but for me just getting back into running after being out of action with a lower back problem for a while, it was just about the right amount. 4 min run / 1 min walk.

Walking 2:15:52 [1] 3.7 mi (36:43 / mi) +19ft 36:32 / mi
ahr:92 max:137 shoes: Hoka Conquest 2

San Antonio. From our hotel, down to the Riverwalk, then took Riverwalk to the King Williams district (lots of impressive older houses, kind of in the East Ave. mansion vein, but not quite). Walked through a lot of the King William district, ending up at the Blue Star brewery, where we each had a beer, and shared a half sandwich/chili lunch.

Walking 49:58 [1] 1.68 mi (29:44 / mi) +24ft 29:21 / mi
ahr:98 max:117 shoes: Hoka Conquest 2

From the Blue Star brewery, up King William Avenue (lots more impressive houses), and back to the main part of the Riverwalk, where we took a narrated boat tour (not logged).
8 PM

Walking 39:25 [1] 1.15 mi (34:10 / mi) +16ft 33:43 / mi
ahr:78 max:164 shoes: Hoka Conquest 2

Late evening walk down to the closest part of the Riverwalk, where there was a souvenir shop where Cheryl wanted to get a last minute gift for Greg and for Fred.

San Antonio. Early morning to beat the heat, but unfortunately not the humidity. Mostly along the Riverwalk heading north from the main part, which is great for running (saw lots of other runners, in fact). Paved, even footing, not all of the neat restaurants in the more populated part, where we did our walking the last couple of days. Ran and walked, but generally no fixed intervals of each.

Mid-day run in Laguna Niguel, while Cheryl walked. This was in Laguna Niguel Regional Park, a great place. We first discovered it because of the awesome pickleball courts (4 courts, pickleball specific, with lots of trees to the SE of the courts resulting in good shade on the courts for most of the morning). It also has some interesting looking routes for walking, biking, and running, so after playing some pickleball this morning, we decided to come back in the afternoon for a run/walk and a walk.

Here is a link to the map of the park. I basically ran around the reservoir.
