Run/walk from Cheryl's sister's Kay's house in Laguna Niguel, CA. Generally ran 90 seconds / walked 30 seconds except when I was going downhill, I ran longer than the 90 seconds a few times.

Very short run/walk, after playing 3 games of pickleball. My lower back feels pretty recovered, and this was my first time testing it with running, so I wanted to make sure to take it very easy. Felt OK.

First bike ride in ages. I've been having lower back issues, which are, unfortunately, aggravated by running and by pickleball. And also by anything more than casual walking (like walking around Webster Park for 3 miles or so). I decided to see how biking affected it. It was a little more sore after I biked than before I did, so it might wind up being something else I should avoid until I can get my back problem under control. I won't give up on biking until I try it another time or two, though.

Biked to the Rec Center, where Cheryl was playing pickleball, then got a ride home with her.

Genesee County Park, with Fred. I gave him the option of one of three courses: Beginner (White), Adv. Beginner (Yellow), and Short Advanced (kind of a Green). He chose the latter, and was pretty insistent on it. It turned out to be a bit too much -- we managed 7 controls in 83 minutes, and it looked like it would be at least another hour to get controls 8-13, so we bailed after 7 (which was very close to the finish area).

Still, it seemed like a good outing for him. He got to experience a lot of off trail travel, getting accustomed to stepping over logs, dodging trees, and fighting through some semi-thick vegetation for short stretches. And he asked a lot of questions about the map and symbols he usually doesn't encounter, like a boulder cluster we came across close to the trail. Unfortunately, it was a very unimpressive boulder cluster, nothing I would have deemed worthy to make it onto the map -- a few small rocks, none of which were more than about a foot high, and most of them covered with moss or other vegetation to make them nearly invisible.

I was pleased, in a way, to see we were not the only DNF -- three cadets from the Maritime academy (Buffalo) and one other person DNF'd.

With my grandson Fred. This is the second 1-mile run I've done with him (should have been more I realize). He said they're doing a 1-mile run in PE class on Monday, so hopefully this is better than having done nothing.

Whiting Rd, with Hanna. Walked some currently non-mapped trails, to start getting the Whiting Rd map updated for the October Webster meet.

Walking 1 [1] 0.0 mi +35ft null / mi

Whiting Rd. This track is from my Fitbit (other was the Garmin). This one said 1.839 miles, and only 35 feet of climb. This one showed much better consistency on the trail that I did twice (once in each direction).
